The birth of a legend

The date of birth of this model is 1948. It was in the 1940s that the boom in shooting began in the Soviet Union. Therefore, the goal was to create a sport model of a small-caliber pistol. The most successful option was a sample provided by the designer Mikhail Margolin, an engineer at the Izhevsk plant.

In the 90s of the last century the design bureau "Izhmash" developed a model of a small-sized pistol, which was named "Drill". This became possible after a special groove was made in the trigger mechanism. On the basis of the pistol MC was developed another version of sports and training weapons, called "Margo". This name came from a shortening of the name of designer Margolin.
