"Slavutich Arena" (Zaporozhye): history, news, how to find

In the city of Zaporozhye, on Lobanovsky Street, there is a beautiful stadium called "Slavutich-Arena". It is a very old stadium with a long history, after a five-year reconstruction it accommodates about 12,000 spectators.

History of the stadium

The stadium did not receive such a name immediately, it used to be called the Central Stadium Metallurg, it was built almost 70 years ago, back in 1938. Near the "Slavutich-Arena" (Zaporozhye) is the legendary island of Khortitsa. Until the stadium was built on this site for about twenty years, there was a football ground.

In Soviet times, there was a large number of competitions in various sports. In addition to football, track and field athletics competitions were most often held. Also regular football matches of the First League of the USSR and Cuba of the USSR were held. In 1973, another grandstand was completed, while the Central Stadium held 27,000 spectators.

By 1980, the stadium was already considered an emergency, but the Zaporozhstal plant made repairs at its own expense. In 1992 the Cup of Ukraine was held here for the third place.

In 2001, the stadium was closed for complete reconstruction, in fact, it was the construction of a new stadium based on the old one. The main sponsor of the construction of the new stadium was the brewing company "Slavutich". With her, a 20-year contract was signed, where it is said that the company will equally fund the reconstruction, and subsequently the maintenance of the stadium. Hence the name "Slavutich-Arena" (Zaporozhye) appeared.

Reconstruction of the stadium took place for five years. As a result, the residents of the city received a new and modern stadium, with a large LED screen and excellent lighting.

Architecture of the stadium

The main stadium of Zaporozhye accommodates 12 thousand people, there are 6 commentary booths and press boxes for sixty people on its territory. There is also a VIP-box, which can accommodate up to a hundred people.

The sectors in the arena "Slavutich" in Zaporizhzhya are arranged squarely along the perimeter of the stadium. In total there are 16 sectors, all of them are properly equipped, fans can comfortably watch football fights.

On the eastern platform there are 60 places for people with disabilities. The guest sector can accommodate up to 650 people. Under the canopy there are 6285 people, the rest are watching football fights in the open air. There is a large placard measuring 6 by 10 meters. For the teams there are two locker rooms, each of which has an area of 140 square meters.

To date, the stadium "Slavutych Arena" (Zaporozhye) has on its territory:

• Club of table tennis;
• Conference halls, which can be rented if necessary.

For tourists and just fans of football in the stadium sometimes conducted tours and photo sessions, they are available to all comers.

A few months ago, it was decided to allocate 1.26 million hryvnia for the replacement of lighting.

January 27, 2017 on the site of the Zaporozhye Administration a petition appeared, where people are asked to make another reconstruction of the stadium, so that Slavutych Arena (Zaporozhye) could host matches of European cups. To do this, you need to do some work to improve the stadium, it must comply with European standards.

At this stadium the local team "Metallurg" plays, everyone can visit the stadium and watch football. Zaporozhye "Slavutich-Arena" is located at: ul. Lobanovsky, house 21. The stadium is located almost in the center of the city, near the river. Dnepr and famous Fr. Khortytsya.

This stadium has a very ancient history, it has already carried out repeated reconstructions. At the present time it is quite comfortable and cozy stadium for holding interesting matches of the Ukrainian championship, but to the European level "Slavutich-Arena" (Zaporozhye) is still not reaching. It hosted the final of the Ukrainian Cup in 2010. Then Donetsk "Shakhtar" and Simferopol "Tavria" played, the winner in this confrontation was Shakhtar.

Long period of "Metallurg" Zaporozhye played in the Higher League of the championship of Ukraine, but the club has a lot of troubles, and at the moment the team plays only in the Second League and has some problems with the rental of "Slavutich Arena".
