Service Antimalware Service Executable: what is it and how to disable it when overloading system resources?

Many users of computer systems based on Windows latest versions are faced with an unpleasant situation, when there is inhibition associated with excessive consumption of some processes by system resources. And one of these components is the Antimalware Service Executable service. What is it, now and see. At the same time we will consider two simple ways of deactivation of the process itself.

Antimalware Service Executable: what is it?

Microsoft Corporation constantly reiterates that it primarily cares about the security of its systems. Thus in them it is possible to find so much means, that to many it is even not clear, what for they are necessary. In addition, many of them can load resources to such an extent that it becomes impossible to work.

In this case, we'll look at the Antimalware Service Executable service. What it is? The most common built-in antivirus service. Its constant triggering can lead not only to system braking, but also to conflicts with other anti-virus software.

Antimalware Service Executable: how to disable?

To disable this service, you can use at least two methods. In general, before completing the steps below, its main process should be completed in the "Task Manager".

This service corresponds to the executable file MSMPENG.EXE. It needs to be found in the active processes tree and force shutdown.

Now let's look at the deactivation of Antimalware Service Executable components (Win 10, 8, 7). The first solution is to open the administration section in the Control Panel and start the Task Scheduler service in it.

In its components, you should go down to the defender's line (Windows Defender), after which the right will display four files responsible for the service. On each file you should click and use the additional menu, where on the service tab of the conditions, uncheck all the items and then save the changes.

In the second case, you can go directly to the Antimalware section of the Scheduler service, and then select the Scheduled Scan component in the middle of the window. Double-clicking the Settings window opens where you want to use the Trigger tab, which selects the available trigger, double-clicks the setting and sets the desired time of the process or its complete disconnection.

Instead of an afterword

Here, in fact, and everything that concerns the service Antimalware Service Executable. What is it, I hope, is already clear. The question of whether or not it is worth disabling it is controversial. In general, this is not recommended. But if there is really a heavy load on resources, provided there is a powerful antivirus with an integrated Antimalware-module, you can do it. To deactivate the component itself, it is not necessary to limit oneself to one method - it is better to apply both for the correctness, although by and large they are duplicates of each other. But, as they say, it's better not to take chances.

It remains to add that only two ways of deactivating the component were considered here. You can do this by several other methods, for example, by editing the system registry keys. But for a regular user, this may seem quite complicated, and you can make critical changes so that later the whole system refuses to work.
