Because of this, kids scratch themselves, because all their movements are absolutely chaotic. It is from this problem and will get rid of special mittens for newborns. Someone believes that they are harmful, because they do not allow the skin of the handles to breathe and do not allow the child to tactilely explore the surrounding world. Also, an accessory prevents him from holding a rattle or a bottle. However, it should be remembered that scratches are dangerous for the skin of a newborn: because of weak immunity, an infection can develop.

What is the difference between scratches from ordinary mittens? The fact that they do not have a compartment for the thumb. As a result, the finished product is similar to a bag, which is held on the hands of an elastic band or a beautiful ribbon. If desired, you can sew or tie it in the form of an ordinary mitten, but then there will be problems with putting on.

Up to what age to use?

Each child is individual, so it's hard to tell how long it takes to use scratches. For newborns, they may not be necessary, and some children will have to wear them almost to half a year. Most often, they wag their pens the first 3 months, but it all depends on the opinion of the mother. Experts advise to use them as little as possible - after all, the baby must develop and get used to his hands. Children begin to reach for toys in about two months, so it's worth giving them everything to touch and inspect.

If it became apparent that the child shows interest in the surrounding objects, it is better to remove his mittens. It happens that inexperienced mothers do not know how to act properly. Then they should stick to the deadline of three months. At the same time, the accessory can only be worn at night.

Selection of material and tools

These special mittens can be bought, and also sew, knit or crocheted. For newborns in this case, natural materials will be needed. For sewing, it is best to use a flannel, kulir, knitwear or any other fabric pleasant to the touch. It should not cause irritation (there may be a perspiration), so it is better to choose not too thick material. Two scratches will be needed: two pieces of cloth with a size of 180x130 mm, a regular rubber band 140 mm long, a needle, and threads.

To tie them, you need to choose yarn. In this case, it is better to choose a thin cotton, for example, VITA Pelican. For work you will need: yarn (you can take leftovers), hook No. 2 and a beautiful ribbon measuring 5x600 mm.

The sleeves are also knitted with natural yarn, although acrylic (for example, Jiffy Yarn Fisherman) is also suitable. In an acrylic product, the hands will be warmer if the house is cool. The work is done on five stocking knitting needles No. 2-4, that is, you need to knit in a circle. You can cut a piece of ribbon or tie a yarn from a yarn.

Sew scratching

Before you start sewing, you need to prepare a pattern. To do this, we take the tracing paper (sheet of paper) and draw a rectangle with dimensions of 90x130 mm. We round off the upper edges of the future mitten and cut out the workpiece. Immediately prepare the elastic: take the desired length and cut it in half. It is necessary to determine the location of the joints, which can be internal, external or secret (between layers of tissue).

We take a ready-made pattern, we put it on a fabric and we circle. Cut out the details, lean against each other and sew, leaving a hole for the handles. Apply the elastic band to the bottom edge of the product, turn it 2 cm and stitch it. Ready-made scratches for newborns are decorated with ribbons, bows, embroidery or lace. If desired, you can increase the length of the cuff - then the elastic is no longer needed.

Crochet

We hook 4 loops, connect them in a ring and start knitting in a circle. If possible, you can try on mittens on the baby or focus on the dimensions mentioned above. They knit together without a crochet, and in the end the rows end with a connecting loop.

We work with rows like this:

- First: 2 lift loops and 7 posts.

- Second: 2 lifting loops, 2 bars per column of the previous row.

- The third: 2 lifting loops, alternately we connect 2 columns into one, 1 column, and so on.

- Fourth: 2 loops of lifting, alternately we connect 2 columns in one, 2 columns, etc.

Continue to add loops until the width of the product reaches 80-90 mm. We continue to work without additions (approximately 7-10 rows). To go to the cuff, we reduce: we reduce each row by 2 loops. Next, we untie the cuff or rubber band (spokes) or columns with a crochet (crochet). For the newborn fit beautiful lace along the edge of the product. We finish the work and cut the thread. Repeat all the actions for the second scratch and decorate with both ribbons or laces.

We knit with knitting needles

A knuckle can only be obtained with knitting needles if the number of loops is correctly calculated. For example, if in 1 cm 3 loops, then knitting needles No. 2, you need to get 40 loops (move from the wrist to the fingertips). Distribute them to the stocking knitting needles: 10 pcs. On the spoke. We begin to knit a rubber band 1x1 (round) with a height of 50 mm. Once the elastic band is ready, we knit a row with holes for the ribbon or lace.
