Schuberth open helmet: description and reviews. Open motorcycle helmet "Schubert"

The German company Schuberth is a recognized leader in the production of helmets. Their equipment is considered the best in the world, they are akin to BMW or Mercedes Benz, set the bar for others and create models that will keep the quality standard for years, if not decades. Lightness, sound insulation and impeccable quality are the distinguishing features of Schuberth.

After the "Formula"

The widely known model, the Schuberth SR1 helmet, was designed with the participation of Michael Schumacher and received the prize as the "Helmet of the Year 2011". The famous racer after his first departure from the "Formula 1" used this helmet during his short career in motorsports. That is why the Schuberth SR1 has the features of the equipment "Formula". And today, some F1 drivers prefer helmets to this company as a legislator in the field of security.

Alone with nature

Open helmeted helmets are often called "helmet ¾", as well as open-face. These models appeared first and were widely used in the fifties of the last century. Their main distinguishing feature is the missing lower front protective arch: the helmet covers the head only in front, behind and at the sides. At first glance, it seems that this is completely insecure, but such equipment gives a feeling of greater freedom, the review greatly increases. It is very convenient at low speeds and in urban conditions, when you constantly have to open the visor. However, if the driver wants an open helmet, the motorcycle arsenal should be supplemented with special glasses.

The open helmet Schuberth J1 has differences from its counterparts. This is a small diameter additional power arc in the lower part of the visor, closing the lower power frame. The helmet is comfortable and, as a whole, typical for all products of this brand, has a low noise level. It is very convenient that, in addition to the main visor, there is also a second one, an anti-sunflower with toning. If necessary, it can be removed inside. Another model, also the Schuberth M1 open helmet, also has an additional arc of rigidity. The external protective visor fits into the design, but the helmet can be used in both versions. There is also an internal sun visor. In M1, there is an audio preparation for the company's Bluetooth headset SRC System.

Comfort and safety

A large, almost complete overview - that's what an open helmet will provide. Motorcycle helmet 3/4 is suitable for those who prefer to ride in the city, but in bad weather, for example during heavy rain, it can not be the most practical solution.

One of the things that can be included in the shortcomings of almost all Schubert helmets is the standardized internal profile. The designers of the company do not seem to have taken into account that people sometimes have very different head shapes, and therefore those who do not fit the "standards" may feel some discomfort when wearing a helmet.

Motorcyclists complain about a narrowing in the jaw region, but in the Schuberth J1 helmet it seems to have been corrected. He sits better than the rest, perhaps due to the lack of a rigid chin. Due to the wider profile, a large number of people will find a convenient Schuberth J1 helmet. The price for all models of this brand starts from 25-30 thousand rubles, J1 here is no exception, despite the fact that the helmet is open.

New Part

The open Schuberth helmet has one truly innovative solution. This is an arch for protecting the chin, made to give greater rigidity to the structure. The material used for production is a special plastic. The arc is placed in special grooves on both sides. A signal that says everything has got into place is a characteristic click. To remove the arc, just click on the red sliders on both sides of the helmet. They can be unfastened and one at a time, and it does not matter if the helmet is in a dressed position.

Specialists Schuberth report that in the event of an impact, the arc will dissipate the power energy directed to the chin, along the entire surface of the helmet. On the question that it can catch on and lead to a neck injury, the designers answer that they provided for this possibility: the arc will automatically disengage if the pulling force exceeds the permissible one. In this case, a dangerous load on the neck is excluded, but in view of this it is not necessary to put any objects in the Schubert's helmet and carry it, holding on to the arc: a self-releasing mechanism may work, which will lead to a fall.

New fastening

The latest models of this brand use a new type of fastener, which in the original is called quick-release. Opinions about the appropriateness diverge. Some say that the old mounts are better (referring to the two D-rings), others - that the so-called simple-complex from Schubert is more reliable, although less convenient. If the helmet does not have an additional lining, this clasp will rub your neck. However, innovations do not come into our lives right away, and perhaps in the future Schubert designers will finalize their system and motorcyclists will already call it the simplest and most reliable. In any case, it pleases that the thoughts of engineers do not stand still.

Microclimate

Good ventilation and low noise - things, perhaps, directly opposite each other, if we talk about helmeted helmets. If the height is one, then the second leaves much to be desired, and vice versa. To maintain balance in this delicate system is not possible for everyone, but we can say that the specialists from Schubert did it better than others. Here you can note the helmet "Schubert" SR1, then, probably, played a role that the sources are the equipment from the "Formula 1". No, this helmet does not provide the best sound insulation, it is even inferior to other models of its brand, but it's different. It has an amazing degree of ventilation, and, considering this, the noise insulation is still at its height.

Designers have provided various situations and equipped the helmet with two ventilation channels, which are opened at will with the help of separate sliders. The chin also has an air intake opening, it is made up of two parts: a large lower channel, and above it a second, separate channel, which serves to blow the inside of the visor. Thus, condensation does not form in the helmet.

All holes are adjustable, you can open them completely, partially or completely, but there is one drawback: the air intake grid can let in small small insects, which can be very unpleasant when driving at high speeds.

Also well proved to be the Schuberth S2 helmet, which the company itself positions as a tourist.

What is the main thing?

Much has already been said about the brand "Schubert", however, for which absolutely everyone loves it, it is weight, or rather its absence. All the flaws recede into the background when the motorcyclist takes up this almost weightless helmet. For example, the SR1 mass for XS size is only 1290 g, and for XXL - 1400 g (possibly a fluctuation within 50 g). Needless to say, Schuberth's open helmet weighs no more than one kilogram! And of course, an impeccable design that will not leave even the most discriminating person indifferent. All helmets are available in several colors, with a glossy or matte finish.
