Russian folk tales: a description of Ivan Tsarevich

All children, without exception, like Russian folk tales. Why does this happen? Because they are very kind and cheerful, they teach babies from the very early age to distinguish good from evil, instill good qualities, are very instructive. In Russian fairy tales, there are many positive characters who oppose the forces of evil.

We suggest in our work to consider the description of Ivan Tsarevich. We chose this character because he often meets us on the pages of works of not only Russian folk art, but also in the works of Khudyakov, Afanasyev and other authors.

Who is it

Ivan Tsarevich meets as a beloved hero from the middle of the eighteenth century. Fairy tales with this character are numerous and written by different authors. Of course, I want to learn more about him and find out which side he belongs to - dark or light.

To understand this, we analyze the fairy tales, where our hero meets, trace his evolution and draw conclusions. To begin with, we will describe Ivan the Tsarevich. He appears before us always in one guise: a young, fair-haired and very brave young man. Often our character is subject to reincarnation, amazing servants help him, fairy tales with his participation are always full of various tests and adventures. In addition, the hero always has a hard life. He is forced to go on adventures full of danger, with the purpose of fulfilling someone's errand or simply because he was kicked out of the house for any misconduct.

Considering the description of Ivan Tsarevich, as he was outwardly, there is little information to be found, but the hero's inner qualities are expressed in all his glory.

Feats

As already mentioned, the description of Ivan Tsarevich is the same everywhere. As a rule, he does not know about his real roots. It becomes known to him only after the fairy tale ends. His awards:

  • Outlandish animal;
  • Marriage to the daughter of the king;
  • Half of the kingdom and so on.

His faithful servants (pike, Gray Wolf, Sivka Burka and many other characters) always help him. All the feats described in the tales, he performs in order to save the girl, who captured any villain. Most often in terms of the enemy Ivan Tsarevich Koschey.

The description of Ivan Tsarevich can be imagined as follows: a fearless, intelligent and brave young man. His image is often found in fairy tales with such a plot: in the tsar's garden a thief is brought in, not any of them, but the Firebird herself. Our hero with his brothers goes to her search. Ways often diverge, but Ivan Tsarevich meets his assistant Gray Wolf, who helps him to find not only a bird, but also a bride. Ends of fairy tales are always exposing evil brothers and a chic feast.

Pedigree

Who was Ivan Tsarevich? Description of the hero of the tale with respect to the pedigree is as follows:

  • Son of the king;
  • The youngest of the three brothers;
  • Often before his birth, the father promises to give his son to the Sea King ;
  • The most stupid, but good-natured and unselfish person;

Although in the beginning the description of Ivan Tsarevich from a fairy tale is unprofitable to represent him against the background of his brothers, but thanks to his inner qualities he always emerges from all situations as a winner.

As a result, he gets such wives as Elena the Beautiful, Vasilisa the Wise or Marya Morevna. The brothers remain with nothing because of their bitterness and cowardice.

Ivan Tsarevich as a negative character

There are also such works, where our hero is represented as negative. For example, a fairy tale about Ivan - a fishing son. In it, Ivan Tsarevich appears to us in the guise of an evil and treacherous hero who wants to kill positive characters, take possession of their riches and take away the reward.

The final in this case looks like this: Ivan Tsarevich is confounded and punished, but not killed. Nevertheless, our hero is remembered to us from a positive angle, this example is an exception, which is quite rare.

The plot of fairy tales with our character is almost always the same, only the actors and their names change. Russian folk tales remind children that there is on earth not only good but also evil. But good always wins.

We were convinced that our hero still occupies a place of a positive character in Russian fairy tales. In his heart he will forever remain a young, kind, strong and brave young man, unselfishly helping people who are in trouble.
