Reason is what? The meaning of the word "reason"

Throughout life, people do not think at all how their actions are related to processes in the head. Where do thoughts come from, how does the process of their transformation into action take place? Normal knowledge of the brain does not help answer this question. All because the brain is the biological organ of the human body. He controls virtually all processes. But when we talk about thoughts and actions, here we are talking about psychology - a complex generation of the brain. Speaking simply, psychological processes are nothing more than a graphic example of the relationship between action and the brain, the biological part and the inner, spiritual. Immediately there is another, no less interesting question: what gives logic and order to our actions? This factor is provided by consciousness, more precisely, its structural element - the intellect.

The general concept of the term

What is reason? This type of thinking, part of consciousness, part of psychology, this is consciousness - all interpretations are true and false at the same time. The classical version of the definition of the term includes many aspects, each of which to some extent confirms the above statements. Reason is an irreplaceable ability of the brain, one of the elements of consciousness that allows you to comprehend the world around you, give meaning to concepts and things, correlate them, translate the experience into a category of memories and, conversely, make up categories. It should be noted that the notion of "reason" in psychology arose. This discovery was not accidental. Scientists went to him for many years, trying to understand what exactly is directing our actions in the right direction. Nevertheless, there is a great difference of mind from reason. These two brain phenomena, although similar to each other, but the results of their work in the roots are different, as will be discussed below.

Features of the mind

Reason as a psychological property of the brain has special characteristics. They include all the features inherent only in this particular form of consciousness, for example:

- Reason helps to separate concepts from each other by highlighting special properties. The obtained data are systematized, which greatly facilitates the load on the human consciousness.

- Memories are classified properly, without loss of data or the presence of unnecessary factors. Reason works in such a way that the knowledge accumulated by the brain is the most necessary. This allows you not to overload the brain in the process of work. Nevertheless, one can develop this function to keep as much information as possible.

- Not only new or old knowledge is systematized. When a person learns something, the mind automatically sends the experience to that part of the brain in which this experience will be most useful.

As we see, reason is a specific form of consciousness that can not be identified with other types of it. The main feature is that the mind can not create new knowledge or experience. Its function is purely systematic. The action of reason is also aimed at maintaining common sense or maintaining mental health of a person.

Philosophical concept of the term

In addition to psychology, one should consider reason in philosophy. This concept takes a completely different meaning, although it is in many respects similar to the understanding of psychologists. Nevertheless, the interpretation of the latter constitutes a more medical one than a scientific concept. According to the teachings of many philosophers, reason is the mechanism by which people know this world. Also, philosophers distinguish such a scheme of information flow: reason - mind - soul. Thus, the stage of "reason" is the very first. In this there is a similarity with scientific understanding, since in it reason is not the main element in the process of cognition and the complete analysis of information.

It should be noted that in any understanding the mind is presented in the form of a kind of buffer or a natural "brain filter". Reason in philosophy is a stage of the process of self-development, moreover, the very first.

The influence of reason on human behavior

Given all the above facts, we can conclude that the mind performs an analytical function. In the process of human activity this is the most important activity of the brain. It is the ability to analyze distinguishes a person from other living beings, whose behavior is controlled and directed by instincts. There is a certain type of people whose information analysis function is much more developed than the others. They are able to process information many times faster. Such talent is called "cold reason". This is a special type of consciousness, in which information within the human brain is processed several times faster because of the biological characteristics of the individual. There are few such people today, but they exist.

Confusion of mind - what is it?

Paradoxically, almost any organ in the human body can get sick. This also applies to the brain. Quite often people have mental obscurations. It can not be said that this ailment is caused by any particular brain disorder. Very often the confusion of reason occurs because of a strong emotional experience. Simply put, a person goes insane. It can be a single case or pathological, when the disorder takes the form of an incurable psychological illness. In psychiatry, the following forms of obscuration are distinguished:

- Useful madness.

- Melancholy.

- Mania.

- Hysterics.

Some scientists distinguish and other forms, but all of them are united by one fact: the inability to realize the analytical function to some extent. There is the concept of "common sense". This is a characteristic of a completely healthy brain in which all processes and forms of consciousness work properly. Anyone who does not have any mental illness has an absolutely pure and healthy mind.

The difference of mind from reason

In no case can one identify reason and reason. Reason is only analysis. In turn, mind is a way of deep awareness of information. This kind of consciousness at the output gives a completely new knowledge. Not only analysis, but also an objective assessment of the situation, the subject, etc., is performed. Reason is the "preparatory" part of consciousness, and reason is the "final part" on which the comprehension and realization of this information takes place.

Conclusion

So, in the article the concept of reason was fully revealed. Reason is the primary stage of realization, without which people would not be able to fully realize their functions. This form of awareness helps to specify and order information within the brain for its further effective use.
