Queen Elizabeth II

Now reigning in the UK, Queen Elizabeth II (the name of Elizaveta documents by Maria Maria Windsor) represents the famous historical dynasty of Windsor. The future ruler was born on April 21, 1926 in the Mayfair area, London. She is the eldest daughter of the Duke of York George (George VI) and Lady Bowes-Lyon.

This is the twelfth queen and the head of the United Kingdom, also officially the head of 15 states of the Commonwealth of Nations, heads the Anglican Church, is the Supreme Commander of the country.

What is she, Queen Elizabeth II? Her biography is the subject of interest of millions, since her story is really unique. This woman is a truly iconic symbol of London, Britain and the whole United Kingdom. She has been on the British throne for more than sixty years, embodying the sustainable development and stability of her country. During the reign of Elizabeth, more than a dozen prime ministers, thousands of members of the Chambers of Lords and Commons, were replaced in the country. In 2012, was brilliantly celebrated the diamond anniversary of her reign.

Princess Lilibet (as she was called in the family circle by the closest people) was educated at home. In 1936, after the coming to power of George VI, she was declared the heir to the throne. With the consent of her parents, she entered the military service during the war. At the age of 18 Queen Elizabeth became a member of the State Council and gradually became involved in state affairs.

In 1947, Queen Elizabeth became the wife of the son of the Greek Prince Andrew - Philip, who after the wedding was called the Duke of Edinburgh. The heirs of the ruling pair are Princess Anne, the princes Charles, Andrew and Edward.

Elizabeth was officially proclaimed Queen on February 6, 1952, after her father passed away. The coronation ceremony was held in Westminster Abbey in 1953 (June 2) and was first broadcast on television.

The Queen enjoys great respect and love from the English, she is modest in communication, attentive to others and just. The royal court with it became more democratic and less pompous (although it remains one of the most aristocratic in the world).

Almost all of her time, Queen Elizabeth is in Buckingham Palace, which at this time is closed to visitors. On weekends and in the summer, she leaves for Windsor (her country residence). In the summer several halls of Buckingham Palace are opened for visiting numerous tourists.
