Publishing house "Kuchkovo pole". History of occurrence and interesting facts

Publishing house "Kuchkovo pole" is well known to those who are fond of the history of their country. This is due to the fact that within the walls of this edition was printed a lot of scientific books affecting the most intriguing topics. However, if the production of the publication does not require additional advertising, its staff often remains in the shadows. And this, to put it mildly, is unfair.

The beginning of the long journey

"Kuchkovo Field" appeared in 1992, relying on his older brother - publishing house "Fabula". Funding was carried out at the expense of the A.A. Pushkin. Alas, the crisis of 1995 led to the fact that the flow of funds was blocked and the "Fabula" was completely bankrupt. Part of the debt fell on the "Kuchkovo field", as it was not closed and for his life began to fight the editor-in-chief George Kuchkov.

Strictly speaking, he could not do otherwise. After all, this place was his brainchild, and as a father, he loved him with all his heart. Therefore, George did everything possible to find new sponsors, at whose expense it would be possible to produce fresh books. "Kuchkovo field" start slowly, but still started to get back on its feet. And only with the advent of the new millennium it was able to reach the previous level of the press.

The history of the name

For many readers, it remains a mystery why the editors have such a strange name. However, it is worth digging a little deeper, as everything falls into place. What is true, "a little deeper" means going to the beginning of the XII century during the reign of Yuri Dolgoruky. So, circling his lands with a check, the king stumbled upon the region of marvelous beauty, which belonged to the rich merchant Stepan Kuchka.

The lord decided to visit with the owner, but he answered rudeness to his request (according to one version, Yuri Dolgoruky simply invented this story in order to take the land from the merchant). The king was angry and ordered the ignorant boyar to be executed, and his family sent to Vladimir. Later, these lands became part of Moscow, and only a small piece of them remained Kuchkov.

Regarding the connection with the editorial office, George Kuchkov believes that the merchant was his distant relative. Therefore, it is not surprising that his work bears the proud name of the "Kuchkovo Field", thus recalling the sad events of the past.

Editorial policy

Today the publishing house "Kuchkovo Pole" is engaged in the issue of historical books. This includes series dedicated to the last two wars, biographies of prominent political figures, excursions on the work of special services and so on. At the same time, the editorial staff is very strict about the accuracy of historical data, so that you do not then blush to your readers.

To achieve this goal, she often cooperates with various museums and private collectors. Thanks to this, they have access to extensive sources of information, such as memoirs, photographs, archaeological texts and so on. Moreover, as Georgy Kuchkov himself admitted, they were even allowed to open a number of secret archives, in order to better describe the work of Russian special services of the past.

Awards and contribution to the development of society

Since 2000, the "Kuchkovo Field" has been constantly participating in Moscow and regional competitions devoted to the cultural enlightenment of the country. Thanks to this, his books gained the popularity that is needed for sound competition in the Russian market.

In addition, the publishing house has repeatedly received prestigious awards related to journalism. For example, for the book "The Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945" it received the "Book of the Year" award. In addition, the press was repeatedly sent thanks to the Federal Security Service of Russia in the field of literature.

All this led to the fact that the once small edition turned into a real shark pen, able to beat its competitors in a fair fight. So, the Russian world can be calm, as books about its history will continue to appear on shop windows.
