Peppermint. Application in various fields

A beautiful legend, originated in ancient Greece, says: the nymph Minta, who was the patroness of meadows and forests, was so beautiful that she was turned into a plant and presented as a gift to the goddess Aphrodite. So there was peppermint. The use of this plant was extended to Ancient Rus. Mint of this species is most in demand because it has the most pleasant, strong aroma.

This plant grows in many countries. Its leaves have slightly jagged edges and a delicate purple hue. Thanks to its refreshing taste peppermint, the use of which is so popular, is used in everyday life, cooking, perfumery and cosmetology. This plant is also valued for its medicinal properties.

Tincture of peppermint. Application for medicinal purposes

The plant has great therapeutic value. It perfectly soothes, relieves pain, fights against inflammation of the internal organs. Mint improves the activity of the stomach, eliminating heartburn, flatulence, gas formation, diarrhea. Peppermint is especially valued, its use eliminates viral diseases, during the cold season.

This plant will help reduce fever, relieve headaches, soothe heart palpitations and reduce blood pressure.

Women in the position is recommended to take a mint broth when complaining about nausea. To get rid of this unpleasant manifestation of toxicosis, you can, using this remedy two or three times a day in small portions. Prepare the broth quite simply: a glass of mint should be poured with a liter of steep boiling water and leave the drink covered with a lid for at least an hour. The resulting broth must be filtered and divided into six portions. Do not use this product in large quantities, especially late in pregnancy, since the essential oil contained in mint can have an adverse effect on the child.

Hair care at home

Peppermint for hair will help to cope with such problems as excessive fat content, dullness, fragility. Sebaceous hair is useful to handle mush from berries of mountain ash and mint leaves. Mass of the above ingredients are applied by massage movements on the scalp and left for ten minutes. For a better effect, the head can be wrapped around with a warm kerchief or a film. Return the hair the same strength and shine will help rinsing mint infusion (two tablespoons of leaves of the plant for a glass of boiling water).

It improves the taste of biscuits, cookies, pies, marmalade, jelly, fruit drinks and juices, and is also used as a seasoning for meat and vegetables. Menthol gives flavor to candies, chewing gum, tobacco products, alcoholic beverages. Most toothpastes have a menthol flavor. The smell of this plant often comes from washing powder, air freshener, perfume or cologne.

Contraindications:

  • The presence of an individual intolerance to mint or its individual components;
  • Low blood pressure;
  • The presence of such a disease as varicose veins.

In the people there is an opinion that mint negatively affects the potency of men. Since this plant has a strong soothing effect on the body, those who try to cope with drowsiness, it should not be taken.
