Pagan wards of the ancient Slavs. Wards of the ancient Slavs: the meaning

The guardian is a native Slavic word. V. Dal in his dictionary interpreted his meaning as a conspiracy, a rite from spoiling, a talisman, a "pendant from the evil eye", from fire or water, etc. At the same time, any object, and not only can be an amulet. It can be a word, a gesture, even a song. The meaning of the amulet is protection from danger.

History of occurrence

Many centuries ago, our ancestors noticed that they were lucky to bring the enemy's tooth to the hunt, and they achieved the love victory with the help of the quaint root of the plant. So the story of the wards began, because primitive people were surrounded by so many real dangers that their main task was survival.

From time immemorial, a man tries to protect himself from misfortunes and troubles. At first, there were absolutely everything - bumps or roots, the skull of the defeated enemy or the tusk of the killed mammoth. Then they began to serve only such items that "became talked" by shamans, gaining "magical power".

Over time, people began to impose on the amulets even more functions: they began to appear special images or special inscriptions intended for the removal of a single danger.

Pagan roots

The ancient Slavs around the world perceived not quite as we do today. For them, he was alive and mysterious, full of magic. Belief in the guards of the ancient Slavs, the significance of various amulets is a pagan tradition. But it survived in Russia after the adoption of the Christian religion.

The Gentiles always had the first place in the fear of mighty and inconceivable forces. Our distant ancestors also, as you know, worshiped the elements of nature.

It was they who were called into the defenders, turning them into amulets. The ancient Slavs, who interpreted their meaning in their own way, protected the pictorial symbols of natural elements. A sign of land and fertility, for example, was considered a sown field in the form of a rhombus, divided into four parts. The symbol of the water was wavy lines, fire - oblique cross, thunder - six-beam star.

Pagan wards of the ancient Slavs - this is a whole science. There are such protective symbols from our ancestors everywhere - and on objects of everyday life, and on clothes, and on accessories. They protected them from injustice and unhappiness, from evil spirits and many diseases. In addition, the pagan talismans of the ancient Slavs could bring love and prosperity to their masters. After all, they, according to our ancestors, had a truly divine power.

Women's amulets

Symbols of the ancient Slavs can be seen on many subjects that have been given to the representatives of the beautiful half from grandmothers and even great-grandmothers. Embroidered with fancy drawings towels-towels, pillowcases or cloaks on pillows, handkerchiefs and pouches are almost in every second house. But not everyone knows that they are the protectors of the ancient Slavs. Our ancestors made them with their own hands. And the patterns that they have, it's not just "kartinochki" for beauty. This is the most powerful and powerful amulets of the ancient Slavs. Embroidery with a cross always had a sacred meaning - it protected the person from all sorts of misfortunes. True, for centuries this occupation has become a usual pastime.

For embroidery of clothing, preference was given to the red color of the thread. However, in some cases, other shades have been used, such as brick, scarlet, poppy, currant, cherry.

Ancient embroidery was performed by a counting seam: that is, they counted the threads of the fabrics before making each stitch. Figure-amulet for the material masters did not translate, but only outlined its size and determined the location.

One of the attributes of the protective magic of women were the so-called charms and pendants. They were attached on chains to badges, often made in the form of one or two sunny horses, which were considered a symbol of happiness and good. These protective pendants were worn on the waist or on the neck, as well as on the shoulder or headdress.

Until now, archaeologists in individual burials find whole sets of amulets, suspended on a common basis on chains. For example, one of them has a bird, two spoons, a key and a jaw of a predator. They symbolize satiety and well-being, wealth and safety of property. And in combination with the jaws or teeth of predatory animals, they shielded from evil, contributed to a successful hunt.

Since ancient times, the Slavs have been sure that the best amulet of the animal they kill passes to those who wear it. Pendants in the form of animals and birds were associated with the properties of these fauna. The guardian "duck", for example, was a symbol of the continuation of the family and a happy family.

Men's amulets

And although a strong half of the Slav population was less likely to wear amulets or talismans, they nonetheless existed. True, the male charms of the ancient Slavs were much simpler. Usually they were various brooches: clasps on raincoats, richly decorated with symbols. Mostly they were filled with solar signs. Some of them were decorated with symbols of the earth or rain. The native amulets of the ancient Slavs - tattoos - were made in the form of an eight-pointed or ordinary cross, a swastika or the image of animals, birds or fish.

Men also often put on protective pendants with the symbol of the god Perun - the horse, who guarded them far from home, and also with the image of swords and daggers personifying victory in battle. From the dangers defended such amulets and amulets of the ancient Slavs, like the fangs or claws of wild animals.

clothing

The charms of the ancient Slavs are real works of art. Our ancestors were true masters. Their various decorations, found by archaeologists, strike the imagination not only with its beauty, but also with its thoughtfulness. And the sacred signs, with which some luxury items are decorated, are not at all fanciful patterns invented by skilled seamstresses. These are real amulets. Ancient Slavs of the masculine gender did not distinguish a great desire to wear amulets. This is explained by the fact that, in their opinion, it was women who, like the successors of the clan, needed such protection.

All the old women's clothes are original protections of the ancient Slavs. It is necessarily covered with a magical pattern. They are decorated with everything - and the hem, and the sleeves, and the gate. Even the fabric of our ancestors made itself "impenetrable" for evil forces. After all, it was made using a spinning wheel, spindle or loom, necessarily decorated with protective ornament.

Not only on clothes, but also on housing it was possible to find amulets of ancient Slavs. On the most "vulnerable" for the danger of places - on houses and farm buildings - there were necessarily numerous symbols. They depicted the sun, "thunder signs", figures of goddesses on the roof of buildings, horseshoes, etc.

This tradition has survived to this day. Carved ornaments on the cottages or window frames are not only works of skilled craftsmen. Their true purpose was to protect the home from evil spirits and evil eyes. These were the real wards of the ancient Slavs for the home.

With exquisite ornaments, our ancestors covered all the openings and openings through which the impure force could penetrate into the hearth. By the way, magical security signs necessarily decorated and household items.

Molvinets

It is considered one of the oldest signs of the sacred culture of the Slavic people. Being an energetically powerful sign of a wide spectrum - like so many amulets of the ancient Slavs - the Moldovan was originally used to protect against the evil eye and other negativity generated by the word.

The name of the symbol, as you might guess, comes from the word "say" - to speak. It is on this that the power of the amulet of the Molnitz is concentrated - on the blockage of the flows of any incoming energy, which appears as a result of negative emotions or manifests itself in words.

In other words, if a Slav wanted someone who was evil or envied his success, blaming him behind his back, then evil returned to the enemy. And today, many psychics and esotericists use Molvenets, which protects a person from the negative, born of a word. If the detractor is an energetically weak person, then Molvenets can not only "reflect" its negative, but even return it multiplied. This - one of the strongest defensive talismans of the ancient Slavs. It can be found not only on the patterns of ancient towels, but also in the form of a tattoo on the bodies of valorous magicians.

Odor-the-grass

This sacred guard of the ancient Slavs refers to the solar emblem. His ancestors used mainly to drive away those diseases, which, in their opinion, were caused by evil forces. Odor-grass is a kind of allegory of the Sun, a kind of one god who gives his life-giving light to everyone on Earth. The grass cleansed all three human shells - spirit, body and soul. It was used by the Slavs not only as a native amulet. It was fixed on clothes, applied to dishes, weapons or armor. Odoy-herb, being a double fire sign, defended the Slav from the machinations of evil spirits, prevented the poison from getting into the stomach guarded with food, kept from the enemy's arrows or spears.

Wedding

The wedding ring is a Slavic amulet, which symbolized the union of the two clans. Contrary to popular belief, the significance of this Vedic amulet went far beyond the traditional ritual system. In fact, the Wedding Ribbon is a protective pattern, which is necessarily woven into the embroidery on the garments of the bride and groom. In this context, he denoted the fusion of the physical and spiritual principles of the brothers.

Signs of Mokoshi

A woman's headdress, or circle-amulet, retained good and bright thoughts among the Slavs. He was called a kick. Its true purpose was to give women strength. The ancient Slavs invariably richly decorated this headdress with beads, decorated with a string of pearls - a cassock, equipped with temporal rings - colts resembling a scallop of a cock or the rising sun.

Silver charms

The ancient Slavs were distinguished by a huge variety of various ornaments. But among them very often there are those who have protective properties. For example, necklaces consisting of separate pendants and lunnits are exclusively female protections from night spirits. Their Slavs were made, as a rule, from silver or some silver metal, symbolizing the Earth's satellite. The components of such a necklace-amulet could be glass beads, as well as bones or stones. Sometimes silver coins were used instead of pendants. On the neck of women, sometimes you could see several necklaces, assembled from lunnits, plaques or beads. The number of ornaments indicated the status of the woman. And, needless to say, of the power of the guarding amulet.

It was customary for the ancient Slavs to wear bracelets. They could be seen on both men and women. Bracelets clasped the sleeves of clothing. But they not only made suits and dresses comfortable to wear, they also guarded the owners from penetrating evil spirits. The bracelets were made of silver, glass, bone, twisted wire and even strips of metal. They depicted the symbols of the Sun and Earth.

Solar arrays

The knot was considered to be the most ancient heathen talisman among the Slavs. Various methods of tying it helped to give decorations with a variety of properties. The simplest node is the solar circle, which was hung as an ornament in the solar plexus zone.

Building a new house, the masters laid wool, wax, grains in the ground under the house - the charms of the ancient Slavs, with their own hands "sanctifying" the dwelling and "giving installation" to the defense.

Dolls-amulets

They were not only a children's toy or decorative element. Pagan dolls are powerful amulets of the ancient Slavs, made by women with their own hands, and without necessarily using cutting or pricking objects. They could protect the child from almost any misfortune. The dolls accompanied the Slavic children from their very birth. And the first such amulet even before the birth of the child warmed his cradle, so that after the baby's birth, take on everything negative. Created dolls-amulet for any holiday, be it birthday and baby baptism, a wedding, Kupala, Maslenitsa. These amulets have always been faithful companions of the celebration.

Plots in charms

It is known that various objects can become amulet. When a person does something with his amulet, he puts a piece of his own energy into it.

It is believed that the ancient Slavs whispered various conspiracies in the manufacture of amulets. Even today they can be found in many old books. If the ward was made from illnesses, then more attention was paid to the requests to save from illnesses, if an amulet was created from the evil eye - protection from the evil eye. The conspiracy of the ancients was considered an oral form of charging the amulet with good energy.
