Ointment "Fucidin" - an effective antibiotic for external use

Ointment "Futsidin" is intended exclusively for external use and is an antibiotic of polycyclic structure. Its main components are fusidic acid hemihydrate and hydrocortisone acetate. Excipients - methyl alcohol, liquid paraffin, potassium sorbate, soft white paraffin, butylhydroxyanisole, glycerol, polysorbate, hydrochloric acid, purified water.

Ointment "Fucidin" has both anti-inflammatory and antipruritic effect, as well as antibacterial action. With the proper use of this drug, its systemic absorption is very low, and only about 2% of the active substance enters the skin. Hydrocortisone is excreted in the urine, and fusidic acid along with bile.

Indications for use

"Fucidine G" - the instruction indicates that this drug is intended for the treatment of atopic dermatitis, which has infectious complications, and they are sensitive to fusidic acid.

Ointment "Futsidin" - contraindications

It is not prescribed to use this ointment in the presence of hypersensitivity to fusidic acid and hydrocortisone acetate, as well as to other components of this preparation.

Also, the ointment is not used in the indicated cases:

- In the presence of primary infections of the skin that are caused by fungi, bacteria, or viruses, such as chicken pox or herpes;

- with symptoms of syphilis and tuberculosis expressed on the skin;

- if there is perioral dermatitis and rosacea ;

- Children under the age of two.

When carrying out studies on pregnant animals using corticosteroids, abnormal development of the fetus appeared, and their action was not investigated on the human body. At carrying out preclinical check the teratogenic and embryotoxic action of fusidic acid is not established.

Thus, in pregnancy you can use "Fucidin" ointment, but only in small amounts and not for long, since it contains hydrocortisone. This ointment is also allowed for use and during breast-feeding, only if it is applied near the nipple, then before feeding this area should be thoroughly wiped. The drug practically does not enter the blood.

"Fucidine" ointment - instructions for use

Children after 2 years of age, as well as adults, ointment is applied a thin layer only on the affected skin areas up to 3 times throughout the day. The entire treatment period using this drug is two weeks.

Possible side effects of the drug

In rare cases, the occurrence of systemic allergic reactions may occur. Also, sometimes, skin irritation, burning and tingling sensations can occur at the site of application of the ointment. Possible the appearance of rash, allergic contact dermatitis, depigmentation of the skin.

The action of a glucocorticosteroid can cause the appearance of perioral dermatitis, cutaneous atrophy, striae and telangiectasia, folliculitis, hypertrichosis and oppression of the adrenal cortex.

Cases of overdose when using this ointment are unlikely.

You can not allow the "Fucidine" ointment to get on the mucous membranes and open wounds. In case of ointment in the eyes, glaucoma may develop.

Also, one should not allow long-term use of this drug, since the function of the adrenal gland is inhibited, and atrophic changes can begin on the face or on any other areas of the body.

Fusidic acid, which is part of the ointment, is an antibiotic, and therefore the long-term use of this drug significantly increases the risk of developing antibiotic resistance.

Effects of ointment "Futsidin" on the speed of psychomotor reactions of the body at present is not revealed.

Store this ointment should be at a temperature that does not exceed 25 ° C, the storage time is not more than 3 years.
