New breeds of dogs: a description

To date, about four hundred breeds of dogs are known. All of them were derived for certain purposes. However, people are constantly striving for something more perfect. Therefore, it is not strange that in time some species disappear, and new breeds of dogs appear instead. A description of some of them you will find in today's article.

How do new breeds appear?

In ancient times, dogs were used for hunting and housing protection. Therefore, in those distant times, people conducted a kind of selection according to these criteria. However, as the development of human civilization began to change and the requirements for animals. For example, some hunters did not appreciate the white color of the Fox Terriers. They began to crossbreed different dogs purposefully and eventually received a black and tan yagda.

When people needed guard and fighting animals, as a result of breeding, not one new breed of dogs appeared. In China, these were shar pei, in Italy - cane corso.

To hunt in the boundless steppe spaces, very fast dogs were needed, capable of overtaking wolves, foxes or hares. It was thanks to this that a Russian hound was sent out.

ODIS

This abbreviation stands for the Odessa home ideal dog. Work on the creation of this breed began in the 70s of the last century. It was deduced as a result of planned matings of a fox terrier, a dwarf poodle and a Maltese lapdog. As a result, the breeders managed to obtain a group of animals that are close in phenotype and have common ancestors.

Like any other new breed of dog, ODIS has its own standard. These tiny animals grow to 25 centimeters at the withers. At the same time, their weight is not more than three kilograms. The miniature body of the doggies is covered with a thick, long, hypoallergenic coat of white, gray or pale yellow color.

Representatives of this breed are characterized by a cheerful energetic temperament. They have a sufficiently developed immune system, resistant to infectious diseases. For all of their existence, veterinarians have not registered a single case of severe pathologies or congenital malformations.

Russian Salon Dog

These decorative doggies appeared about fifteen years ago. They were brought out by the domestic zootechnician Yu. A. Lakatosh by crossing the Yorkshire terrier, pug and Belgian griffin. Like any other new breed of dogs in Russia, these miniature animals quickly gained popularity. They are ideal for keeping in a city apartment and have an open compliant character.

Unlike other decorative dogs, they have a strong physique and strong bones. On the round short-headed head there are highly planted ears, which give them a touching look. The body of the animal is covered with a long flowing coat, requiring careful care and regular grooming. The height of adults is 18-28 cm. The weight of such a dog varies between 1.8-3.5 kg.

Russian salon dog is easy to train, quickly remembers new teams and rarely shows aggression. This tiny pet gets along well with children and is able to get along on the same territory with other pets.

Russian Black Terrier

Those who are interested in new breeds of dogs should know that these dogs were bred in the second half of the last century. Among the ancestors of the Russian black terrier are the Erdeli, Risen Schnauzer, Laika, Danes, Rottweilers, Caucasian and German Shepherds.

Representatives of this breed are very tall. Thus, adult males reach 68-74 cm at a weight of 45-68 kg. Bitches are usually smaller. Their growth is 66-72 centimeters, and the mass varies within the limits of 36-59 kilograms. On a massive, slightly elongated head with a heavy square muzzle are placed highly placed hanging ears, which fit tightly to the cheekbones. The body of the dog is covered with thick coarse hair of black color.

Like others, including new breeds of dogs, these animals were derived for certain purposes. First of all, breeders were interested in the guarding qualities of the dog. Therefore, all Russian black terriers are devoted to their owner and family members, but are distrustful of outsiders. These strong dogs are not meant for keeping in urban apartments. They perfectly tolerate frosts and feel uncomfortable in the heat.

Black terriers need long walks and physical exertion. They are not hard to train and quickly memorize teams. However, in the process of raising a puppy, one must remember that the representatives of this breed require a resolute and firm treatment. To not subsequently get an aggressive and suspicious dog, you need to timely socialize it. Doing this is desirable at a very early age.

East European Shepherd

These animals appeared relatively recently. As a basis, breeders used a German shepherd. The breeding of a new breed of dogs began in the 30s of the XX century. But officially the standard was approved after three decades.

These are fairly large and strong dogs, whose weight is 30-60 kilograms with an increase of 62-75 centimeters. They differ muscular physique and strong bones. The case of the Eastern European Shepherd is slightly stretched. On a large proportional head are standing erect ears. The animal's body is covered with thick coarse wool. The Eastern European Shepherd can be zoned-gray, zoned-red, black-tan, black-tan and black.

These dogs have pronounced guarding instincts, so they are very distrustful of outsiders. Animals differ in fidelity, intelligence and nobility. Eastern European Shepherds are very devoted to their owner and family members. They are amenable to training and require increased physical exertion.

Pugle

Those who are interested in the newest breeds of dogs bred abroad, it will be useful to learn about a mixture of beagle and pug. These are not just random mestizos, but purposefully obtained animals, possessing certain qualities. They perfectly match the mind and philanthropy.

These small dogs grow to 25-37 centimeters. They do not require special care and do not carry the negative qualities of their ancestors. They do not have the independence of beagles and health problems characteristic of pugs.

Teddy Roosevelt Terrier

Despite the fact that these dogs appeared at the turn of the XIX and XX century, they still have not received official recognition in the cynological world. Before breeding a new breed of dogs, the breeders carefully selected the pairs. Among the ancestors of these animals are beagles, levreets and smooth-haired fox terriers.

Representatives of this breed weigh in the range of 1.5-3 kilograms with an increase of not more than 32.5 centimeters. As for color, it can be anything except for pale, cream and silver. Initially, these animals were taken out for hunting, but now they are successfully used as companions.

Kava-pu-chon

This is one of the youngest breeds, derived as a result of crossing the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Toy Poodle and Bichon. The plans of breeders included getting a small decorative dog that has good health and hypoallergenic hair.

Kava-pu-chon is considered a very rare and expensive animal. Despite the fact that this breed has not yet been officially recognized, it has found its connoisseurs among ordinary owners.
