Nekrasov "Railway": a short summary of the poem

Nikolai Alekseevich Nekrasov by the time of writing this poem has already gained fame. His poems "Who Lives Well in Russia" and "The Frost, Red Nose" were loved by the people. The magazine "Sovremennik" published by the poet was the mouthpiece of democracy. With the journal collaborated LN. Tolstoy, F.M. Dostoevsky, I.S. Turgenev, M.E. Saltkov-Shchedrin, I.A. Goncharov, A.I. Ostrovsky.

In 1864 he created the poem Nekrasov "Railway". The summary of the work will be considered in this article.

The historical situation at the time of writing the poem

The triumph of the victorious Revolutionary Democrats was not only felt by Nekrasov. The "railway" is a short narrative about the narrow framework between the hunger and the backbreaking work of the whole people. The defenders of the people, the critics of the sixties, who were called the "people's conscience": Dobrolyubov and Pisarev, have passed away. I went to a distant link Chernyshevsky.

The authorities in 1861 unprepared, abruptly abolished serfdom. As you know, 75% of estates in serf Russia were non-mechanized. The patriarchal village was opened for capitalist relations. The collapse of inefficient farms began. On the labor market came a huge mass of almost free labor. Former peasants went to any work, almost for food. Social catastrophes were brewing. As a reflection on the fate of Russia in his journal Contemporary, Nekrasov publishes his own poem The Railroad. The summary of it immediately became the subject of discussion of the entire Russian society.

The plot of the poem

The most dramatic work of Nekrasov begins everyday. As if the first lines of her poems were written in watercolor. Late autumn, "ice is not strong," "the river is hot," but on the leaves are leaves that have not yet "faded." Lyrically begins his story Nekrasov. The "railway" reveals its content to the reader intentionally gradually.

A young son in a coachman's armchair and his father-general set off on a railway journey. To the son who asked about who built it, the father named the name of the "builder": "Count Pyotr Kleinmichel ..." But the child who slept on the road dreamed the truth about this construction, like a thriller. Only under the fear of starving to death could one decide on such a job. To live in a dug-out, to eat somehow, practically to have no rest, to suffer from a cold and dampness, and at the same time exhaustingly work for 12-14 hours. The work was boggling. Jude the foremen recorded the miscalculations of each. When the time came for calculation, the foremen announced the fines that are counted for each. To pay it turned out very little, and often the builders even had to. Then the workers were given a barrel of wine, and the issue of payment was thus removed in principle. Defiant people were killed dead. Those who died of illness and exhaustion were buried there. The road, practically, was erected on the bones.

A vile system, is not it, puts Nekrasov to the court of the Russian public? The "railroad" briefly directly opposes the officially accepted point of view. Her idea is a belief in a people who, after all, will find a worthy destiny (she will build a "broad, clear ... road). By the way, this work with a "gnashing of teeth" was remembered by censors when two years later the Sovremennik magazine was closed, where it was printed.

But the memory of the people remained in the memory of people, when in the crushed society repressed the work of Nekrasov "Railway" sounded proud and sonorous. The summary of it should be perceived as an attempt by the author to "see the light", overcoming the "midnight darkness" of a double reaction.

Conclusion

The history represented by this poem is true and testifies to the true picture of the construction of the Nikolayevskaya railway. Supervised by its construction was the undisputedly loyal to Nicholas I Minister of Railways Adjutant General Kleinmikhel Pyotr Andreevich. The emperor was proud of his subordinates. Honoring his services, they even minted a nominal gold medal, on which the slogan "Zeal all prevails." His style of organization of construction was swift, but was always accompanied by many human deaths. The people fiercely hated Kleinmichel. Therefore, the new emperor Alexander II, on the throne, hastened to replace this odious figure on his post.
