Artist-animator Fyodor Khitruk

early years

Fyodor Khitruk was born in 1917, in Tver. His parents moved to this city shortly before the birth of his son. In the Khitrukov family, in addition to Fyodor, there were two other sons - the elder Mikhail, born in 1915, and the youngest Vladimir, born in 1921. The father of the animator was Khitruk Saveliy Davydovich, who worked first as a mechanic, and after moving up the career ladder - an engineer. With the mother of Fyodor, he met in Riga, at the beginning of the First World War.

Seven years after the birth of the second son, the family changed their place of residence again, having moved to Moscow. In the capital, Fyodor Savelievich's father graduated from the Plekhanov Academy. In 1931 the family moved to Germany. In the city of Stuttgart, the father of the family as a qualified specialist was sent to a three-year business trip. The future animator in the capital of Beden-Württemberg attended the art school, where he learned the basics of fine art.

In Moscow

Upon his return to his homeland, Fyodor continued his studies at the Moscow Art College, finishing it in 1936. And after he improved his qualification in the Institute in the direction of "Graphics". Visiting the film festival, held in Moscow in 1935, and acquainted with cartoons of foreign production, Khitruk imbued with the art of animation. And that's why I wanted to connect my life with this direction and tried several times to get a job as an artist at Soyuzmultfilm, but he did not succeed at first.

The creative career of the young man was interrupted by the Second World War that had begun. He had to get a job as an interpreter. The Institute of Foreign Languages was in 1942 evacuated to Stavropol, where the hero of the article acquired a new specialty. During the war, Fyodor Khitruk served as an interpreter, and later as a platoon commander engaged in radio interception. After 1945, the future animator worked for another two years in Germany, after which he returned to Moscow and continued his career in Soyuzmultfilm. In 1949, he joined the CPSU.

The hero of this article made a significant contribution to the national art. Khitruk for many years was a teacher at the courses of multipliers, conducted at the studio. This position with the profession of the director he combined since 1962. The most popular of his creations can be called such short animated films as "Island", "Lion and the Ox", "Film, film, film". Fedor Savelievich died in 2012, on December 3, at the age of ninety-five. His name is known to the few today.
