"Midokalm" is a medicine that is a muscle relaxant of the central action. It is made in the form of tablets, covered with a white film shell. Their shape is round, biconvex, the smell is weak specific. On one side there is an engraving "50" or "150" (depending on the weight of the tablet). In addition, the sale comes a solution of "Midokalm" (the drug is colorless or slightly greenish, there are no mechanical inclusions).

The active substance is tolperisone. Additional components (in tablets) are citric acid monohydrate, anhydrous colloidal silicone, corn starch, stearin, titanium dioxide, talc, lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose 2910 and macrogol 6000.

The medicine is distributed in blisters for ten pieces (in one cardboard bundle there are three).

The main components of the solution for injection are lidocaine and tolperisone, the auxiliary components are methyl paraben, diethylene glycol monoethyl ether and purified water.

In addition, this drug can eliminate muscle spasms and increased tone accompanying such diseases of the musculoskeletal system as arthrosis of large joints, spondyloarthrosis, spondylosis, lumbar and cervical syndrome.

"Midokalm" is a medicine widely used in restorative therapy after traumatological and orthopedic surgical interventions. It also has a specific pediatric indication - children's brain paralysis (Little's disease) and other encephalopathies, accompanied by dystonia of the muscles (in these cases only tablets are prescribed).

This remedy is not prescribed for patients with hypersensitivity, myasthenia gravis, in children up to twelve months (both solution and tablets).

Instructions for use and dosing

Medication is used orally after ingestion. Chew it is not required, you can drink a small amount of liquid. The initial dose for adult patients is fifty milligrams from two to three times a day. Babies from one year to six - five mg per kilogram (3 times a day), from seven to fourteen - from two to four mg / kg (the frequency of reception is similar). If the patient is not able to swallow the pill, it can be grinded and take the resulting powder with boiled water.

Medication in this form is administered intravenously (slowly) or intramuscularly. In the first case - one hundred milligrams 1 time per day, in the second - a similar volume twice a day.
