Metro station "Podbelsky Street"

The metro station "Rokossovsky Boulevard", formerly known as the "Ul. Podbelsky ", is the final station in the north of the Red, Sokolnicheskaya line of the Moscow Metro. It is quite new, but it is of great importance for the development of the capital and providing a comfortable and fast way of passenger transportation.

History of creation

The metro station "Ul. Podbelsky "was built relatively recently - in 1990, at the turn of the collapse of the Soviet Union and the division of the union republics into separate, independent states. However, even in the face of economic problems and financial deficits, the Moscow Metro continued to develop and expand to meet the needs of a growing megacity in the transport communication between the sleeping areas and the historical center.

The opening took place on August 1, 1990. On the same day, solemnly opened another station - "Cherkizovskaya", which is located next to the metro station "Ul. Podbelsky. " These two stations took on a huge passenger traffic, as this area of the city for a long time suffered from a lack of public transport. Since then the metro station "Ul. Podbelsky ", and now" Boulevard Rokossovsky "regularly transport passengers to work and home.

Architecture

The exterior and interior decoration of the station is rather modest compared to many other metro stations that the city of Moscow has. "Ul. Podbelsky "is decorated with white marble and dark granite. There are no busts or monuments at the station. She is quite strict and ascetic in design decisions. The traveling walls are decorated with a geometric pattern of metal stripes.

Two vestibules are open at the station - north and south. Every day more than 50,000 people use it.

This station is shallow - the depth is only 8 meters. The construction was carried out according to a standard design, and prefabricated reinforced concrete was taken as a basis.

On the platform are two rows of 26 columns. They also impart to the rather strict decoration of the station additional harmony and orderliness.

Title History

The station was named in honor of prominent state and party figure Vadim Podbelsky, who at the beginning of the 20th century worked as a People's Commissar for Posts and Telegraphs of the RSFSR, and later supervised the construction of the Shukhov Tower on Shabolovka. Near the station was the eponymous street. Podbelsky, but literally two years after its opening, the street was renamed into Ivanteyevskaya, and the geographical connection of the name was lost.

During the development of the city at different times there were projects on renaming the station: "North-East", "Ivanteyevskaya" - but none of them was adopted. In the second decade of the 21st century, the question arose of a new name for the station, which would correspond more closely to its new surroundings. And on July 8, 2014 the station "st. Podbelsky "continued its work already under a new name -" Boulevard Rokossovsky. " The same boulevard, however, is located quite far from the vestibules - about 500 meters. This fact caused a share of criticism, as there were other versions of the names that were rejected by the special commission.

Infrastructure around the station

Quite an extensive infrastructure is established in the metro area "ul. Podbelsky. " There are hotels and hostels here, although there are not many of them. Basically they are closer to the ring stations. But if you need to settle in this area, then there are such opportunities. For example, you can comfortably settle in the hotel "Hospitable House" or the hotel "Usadba", which are located near the metro station. The closest is the hostel "Cozy House".

In the comparative proximity stretched Izmaylovsky Park, in which local people like to walk. A little further is the All-Russia Exhibition Center (VVC) and the Ostankino TV Tower.

Not far from this point, the football stadium Lokomotiv was built.

Half a kilometer from the metro station there is a picturesque boulevard Marshal Rokossovskogo, where he installed a monument, and modern artists have created graffiti with a portrait of the marshal on the end wall of the house 27/20.

Not far from the street. Boytsova is a fairly young but promising "Theater 31", where you can see the play of talented actors in the original productions.

The connoisseurs of the cultural life of the capital are well acquainted with the theater "Harlequin" under the leadership of Sergey Melkonyan. For more than 40 years, this theater has delighted its audience with a wonderful game and a wonderful selection of repertoire.

As in any residential area, there are many small grocery stores, several shopping centers, as well as services for the population: beauty salons, cafes, bars, restaurants and entertainment centers.

Current state

In addition to the name change, no more large-scale restoration or design work to change the external appearance of the station was carried out. It remains a fairly simple, functional station, the main task of which was and is to connect the peripheral areas of the capital with other parts of the city. However, it is worth noting that she copes with her role remarkably. The metro management monitors its general condition and appearance. Since it was built not so long ago, the outer lining has not yet become so old or out of order that it takes work to eliminate the shortcomings.

Development prospects

When designing the station "Ul. Podbelsky "it was supposed that in the foreseeable future it would become part of the Great Ring Line connecting the terminal stations of the subway lines. But later it was decided to abandon this idea. Despite this, a constantly growing city still requires the creation of new interchange nodes, but the metro station "Boulevard Rokossovsky" is not included in these plans. Nevertheless, the station plays an important role in the work and development of the Eastern Administrative District of the capital.
