There are a huge number of types of masks, but the greatest variety can be observed in Venice on a traditional masquerade. A bit of history. It is believed that the masked mask appeared in Europe in the 11th century. In times of rampant epidemic of plague, healers, members of anti-plague teams, wore masks with very large beaks. They contained various aromatic oils and herbs intended for air disinfection. Many people believed that the Angel of Death would pass by the person wearing the mask, because he did not recognize it in person. Since then, this attribute of the costume has increasingly become part of everyday life. Thanks to the mask, people remained unrecognized in any situation. In the end, governments of different countries banned their wearing in everyday life, but they were allowed to use them on the days of a celebration such as a carnival.

Although the sale of a huge number of such attributes of the costume, made from a wide variety of materials, they can be done on their own. Experienced masters make masks from porcelain or ceramics, and ordinary people can make them from leather or papier-mache. The decoration depends on the master's imagination and financial capabilities. Most often used gold leaf, colorful feathers, sequins, beads, precious stones. When the napkin takes the form of the workpiece, a layer of PVA glue is applied to it. Thus, the basis for making gypsum masks is made of 15-17 layers of paper impregnated with glue. It should dry for at least 24 hours. The gypsum, diluted with water, is applied a thin layer on the dried product. The dried paper-plaster masquerade mask is sanded with sandpaper. After that, paint is applied to it. It is adorned to your liking and fixed on the head with the help of elastic bands.
