Characteristic

The mansion of the merchants of the Brusnitsyns is a place about which legends bordering with mystic wander. The interiors here amaze with their beauty. However, the building is on the verge of destruction due to abandonment. They can not find money for restoration work, tenants often change.

Here, photo sessions are held for advertising, shooting films and clips, which also affects not the most favorable image on the situation. You can come here as part of the tour group. You seem to be moving into the past to become its immediate part, you are in that era. In view of the dilapidation of the house, one must catch the opportunity to look at this magnificence, because who knows how much more everything will remain in the same state.

Historical data

The Brusnitsyn mansion was built in the 1770s at the junction of the lines of Kozhevennaya and Kosaya. It was a building made of stone, the facade of which looked at the coast. In 1780, Catherine II issued a decree according to which plants for the processing of leather were built here. In 1787 the building changed significantly due to the fact that the factory office was placed here. There were also rooms of a residential type.

In 1844 this building was bought by N.M. Brusnitsyn. Three years later, the plant began to work. In 1857, the old house was supplemented with an annex on the western side. In the 1860's, the windows of the first floor were enlarged. Finished the facades on the front. In 1864, new elements of architectural composition were built in the west.

In 1868 the ownership of the Brusnitsyn mansion was with both spouses. In 1882 he moved to their heirs. Three brothers engaged in rebuilding the facility two years later. AI Kovsharov embodied his architectural ideas. The second floor was enlarged, an extension was built, where the ladder for the front entrance was placed. Also there was a beautiful greenhouse. The interior of the house has changed radically, but from this it only got better.

Location

The Brusnitsyn mansion, whose address is the Tanning line, house 27, is similar to the letter "Sh", if you look at the plan. This form is due to the presence of one's own wing in each of the brothers.

Architects characterize the style of this house as an eclectic. Kovsharov worked here from 1884 to 1886. The fact that this elegant building is located in an area where basically all processes are aimed at the development of industry seems to many strange. There was an unpleasant smell and even poisonous vapors, which for some reason did not bother the merchants. Or control over the plant seemed more important to them.

View from the street

The Brusnitsyn mansion (St. Petersburg) is externally decorated with a frieze, on which there are picturesque garlands. As you can see above, you can see how strongly the cornice, on which the denticles are located, strongly protrudes. A pediment is located above the stairs.

The facade on the right is decorated with bay windows in the form of a semicircle. Entering the courtyard, you will see the place where the elegant garden grew earlier, trees, sheds and extensions now remain. Once the whole complex was a beautiful manor, where there was a mansion and vegetable gardens, buildings for production and storage purposes.

A truly impressive sight was the Brusnitsyn mansion. The photos with his previous appearance are still preserved, so there is still a small chance to see for yourself.

The influence of Soviet power

The front door was boarded up after the 1917 revolution. Removed the monograms on which there was a family sign of the former owners. The hammer and sickle - the symbolism of the Communists - were placed on the vacant spot. In addition to the facade, this symbol can also be seen on the chandelier in the dance hall.

The ownership of the Brusnitsyn mansion passed to A. Radishchev, the owner of another leather processing plant. Here, the management and laboratory staff met. Recently, the tables were removed, on which skin tests were performed using special instruments.

In the 1920s, a local greenhouse was moved to the building of the Botanical Garden. In the period from 1925 to 1930, where there was a travel earlier, the entrance hall was located with a vestibule. In the main staircase appeared overlapping of wood, laid part of the doors. In 1993, over the greenhouse, a metal coating was arranged. Also, the White Hall and the dining room were renovated.

Recently, there was an idea, in accordance with it the buildings of the plant with which the Brusnitsyns' mansion (St. Petersburg) adjoins, were planned to be reconstructed in such a way that the hotel could be accommodated on this territory. From it will be a view of the sea coast. However, there is too much money to carry out this operation, and very few investors will agree to build something in an industrial deaf area.

Losses

In the center of the building there were rooms of a ceremonial type, in the remaining parts there were living rooms of owners and their relatives. The main entrance is in the east. Coming here, you can get acquainted with the enfilade layout. A lot of interesting and impressive details survived here.

During the Soviet era, the rooms were organized by the workshops, so that some luxury items were still missing. The paint is cracked, the stucco is torn off in some places, and the walls are shabby. Of course, it's sad to see that the Brusnitsyn brothers' mansion is living out its days. Lost a large number of sculptures and chests of drawers, carpets, crystal dishes and other luxury items. However, you can still look at the chandeliers and fireplaces.

Grace and refinement

The value of the chambers of the estate is that there is genuine decoration, for example, a ceiling decorated with stucco molding. It was painted under a tree so that it would be in better harmony with the panels on the walls and the door. You can contemplate a beautiful huge chandelier of bronze and wall sconces. They were established by the founders, using candles afterwards. Separate attention deserves a buffet made of carved wood. Each panel on the walls was made by hand. Behind one of them was created a secret door, through which you could get into the room for billiards.

On the door is the head of a ram and elegant ornament. This animal is not accidental, because it personified the deity of trade. The wallpaper and the floor are already the fruits of modernity. Earlier the walls were covered with a skin of low density. It's certainly immediately clear what kind of plant nearby. The doors and windows are decorated with dark wood. From the dining room you can not look out on the street, as the glasses are engraved on the greenhouse.

Chic decoration

In this room, as in others, the furniture that was here originally was not preserved. Once there was a table of oak and 60 chairs, upholstered in leather. A family of merchants, their colleagues at work and friends were dining here.

Then you can proceed to the dance hall, whose walls are painted white. Lighting works here, so you can see a beautiful modeling with gold elements. This room was designed according to the samples of the buildings in which Louis XV lived. You can see a lot of fancy patterns. There are ornaments depicting vegetation, musical instruments, wreaths, panels in the form of flowers, fairy-tale characters. The composition is harmonious and looks refined.

It is supplemented by pilasters and capillas with lyres. The window frames remained intact. Their glasses are dense. The windowsills are made of marble. Suspended from the crystal hang on the chandelier. It itself is made of bronze, it was altered during the reign of Soviet power. Here, too, is a hammer with a sickle.

In safety there was a fireplace made of marble, one of the best in Petersburg. It is decorated with picturesque sculptures of Cupids. In the last century, the use of the White Hall was similar to the usual assembly halls. Here, meetings and celebrations were held. At the fireplace are beautiful pedestals, which from flower vases turned into illumination stands under the statues of Stalin and Lenin.

Hookah

You seem to get into a fairy tale about Shakherezad. Here is a beautiful dome, which is decorated with a gilded plaster molding, decorated with bright colors.

There is a beautifully painted chandelier. Due to the fact that the light object is reflected in a mirror that has already lost its integrity and is divided into separate fragments, the room seems bigger than it really is. On the walls, "Glory to Allah" is written with a delicate language. In addition to the hookah, there were sofas, pillows and carpets. Cover on the floor did during our stay.
