Magnets for curtains. How easy and elegantly to decorate the window?

Various accessories designed for window decoration, appeared in abundance in our stores. This is braid, lace, cords and heavy woven brushes that complement the curtains, decorate them, give completeness and refinement to the decorative ensemble of curtains, lambrequins and tulle. Among the additional elements of the decor, a special place is occupied by magnets for curtains, which are, as a rule, two pieces of various shapes made of plastic, wood or metal, mounted on a magnet and connected together by an organza ribbon or cord. The special charm of this simple and very elegant decor is that it fastens easily and quickly to a thin fabric, picking it up anywhere, creating elegant draperies, and as easily and quickly removed if necessary.

In specialized salons the magnets for curtains are presented in a wide range. Round, square, in the form of flowers and abstract elements, they can easily supplement any design of the decoration of the window, from the classical to the avant-garde. But this abundance does not prevent the creation of exclusive samples, which you can make with your own hands from very simple and accessible materials, showing imagination and ingenuity. Magnets for curtains, made by themselves, firstly decorate the children's room, the design of which allows for boundless experimentation with color, shape and material. For the children's room is best to make soft jewelry in the form of funny toys or three-dimensional applique. The main material is felt or fleece, and for internal packing - synthetic cotton wool or sintepon. You can also make pick-ups for curtains on magnets in children's room from ready-made small soft toys, pasting them on a magnetic base. Where can I get it? Buy in the store the most simple and inexpensive curtain pick-ups in the form of flat buttons, or do it yourself, removing the magnet from a boring souvenir for a refrigerator and gluing it on any base of plastic or wood. Finished parts are connected with each other by braid, tape or piece of cloth. Depending on the design of the room, the magnets for curtains are made in the form of a flower head, using for this purpose a ready-made artificial flower or made of a piece of silk fabric. The simplest model is done as follows: circles of the same size are cut from a thin fabric. One is taken as a foundation. Under it is better to put a dense and strong lining of cardboard, felt or leather. Other circles are folded in half, then again in half and again. Each received part is glued to the sharp corner in the center of the base circle. The details fit tightly together, forming a vicious circle. Then, in the middle of the flower, a large bright button or bead is sewn, which masks the place of attachment of the parts to the base. On the back of one flower, a magnet is attached, and the other is a metal circle. Two flower decorations are joined together by an elegant satin or kapron ribbon.

How to fix the curtains with magnets? There are many options. The most traditional one is to intercept the edges of the curtains at the level of the window sill or a little higher, laying small creases. With the help of magnets, it is easy to turn an even piece of cloth into an elegant lambrequin. For this purpose, along the edge of the workpiece, magnets are located at the same distance, collecting the fabric in the form of festons. Magnets can be placed not only at the level of the window sill, but also much higher, or pick up both edges of the curtains, placing the decorations one above the other in staggered order. This decoration has the advantage that it quickly changes the design of curtains, just move it from one place to another or add a few more to one magnet. When buying magnets for curtains in a store, check in advance whether they will stick to the fabric. As a rule, they are firmly fixed on a thin fabric, and a heavy and dense curtain can not be retained.
