Links that you send via Facebook Messenger can no longer be considered confidential

Recently, we are increasingly concerned about the security and safety of our data in the digital space. And it is not surprising: after Edward Snowden opened the eyes to the world for access to private "possessions", data and information, people became more cautious and distrustful. That's why regular users of Facebook social network need to think a little.

What is the problem?

It turns out that the official developers launched an application called Facebook Crawler, which allows you to monitor all the links that go to social networks. Not only for those that users deliberately post on public display, but also for those that are sent "privately" via Facebook Messenger.

According to experts, the new application was created in order to facilitate the storage of data. It monitors the links and gives them an identification number, which is then specified even in the database. It would seem that nothing terrible and dangerous, we all know that all this information is stored somewhere. However, now with the help of this very identification code, you can access even those links and attachments that have been sent by a private message. This is potentially dangerous and means that links and files can no longer be called confidential.
