Kupena multiflorous in our gardens

Still very rarely on our sites there is such a known medicinal plant, as kotona multi-flowered. Its other name is the Solomon seal (given to him for the original shape of the flowers). This plant of the lily family is herbaceous perennial. It has a fleshy, creeping rhizome of white color.

Kupena multiflora has slightly curved stems. Their height can reach 60-70 cm. On each of the stems alternate are oval, opposite leaves of a saturated green color. They grow in two rows. The length of the leaves reach 10-12 cm, and width - 4 cm. This plant has axillary flowers, located on 2-5 pieces. They are funnel-shaped. In length these tubular flowers grow to 1.5 cm. The perianth has 6 denticles. The color of the corolla is white-cream. At the bend he has a greenish tinge. Flowers have almost no flavor. After blooming, blue-black berries appear in their place, reaching 1 cm in diameter. The kolones of the multi-flowered flower bloom in May-June, and in August the fruits are ripening. Every year, the aerial shoot dies, leaving a rounded depression on the rhizome. On them you can determine how old the plant is.

In the wild nature of the koton, the multi-flowered tree grows in Eastern and Western Siberia, the European part of the Russian Federation in spruce and spruce forests, and more rarely in pine forests. Most often it is found on lawns between bushes. In the mountainous area of the kupen the multi-flowering grows on the northern slopes.

The plant does not like arid places. The flower belongs to medicinal herbs. It has hemostatic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic properties. All its parts are poisonous, therefore it is better not to engage in self-medication with the help of kolonts. When cultivating this flower on the backyard, you should limit access to it for young children and pets.

In the gardens of Europe this plant is bred for about five centuries. Recently, the multi-flowered kitten has been increasingly used for growing on flowerbeds, prefabricated flower gardens and in the CIS countries. It looks great and under the canopy of trees and shrubs. This plant can also be used for cutting. From wild specimens, you can easily grow new flowers on your site. Kupena often reproduces by dividing the rhizome. This procedure can be carried out in both spring and autumn. Despite the fact that the multi-flowed kitten grows best in well-lit areas, it also develops well on shaded beds. It is best to plant this plant on light, fertile soils. Kupen, the cultivation of which does not present any difficulties, requires regular watering, weeding, 2-3 fertilizing with complex fertilizer, loosening. This plant is responsive to mulching the soil with fallen leaves. Recently, breeders brought out several garden forms of the multi-flowered. These hybrid plants can have simple, semi-double and double flowers. There are varieties with pink inflorescences and leaves with cream stripes.
