Knife "SMERSH": experience of use

Knife themes are quite popular lately. Producers, trying to satisfy the demands of the ever growing army of fans of cold weapons, literally filled up the market with all sorts of its samples. At the same time, domestic blades are often no less popular than foreign brands. However, the purpose of the article is not to compare different brands, but only to state the impressions that the SMERSH-3 knife from ZAO Melita-K causes. I believe this article will be useful to fans of cold steel.

Characteristics

The parameters of the knife are generally available, and I can not describe in detail their meaning, I will only say that its dimensions are slightly different from those declared by the manufacturer. The blade is made in the form of a puukko and is covered with matte spraying. Garda is absent. On the rikaso, from the side of the blade, serifs are made, which do not allow the finger to slip on it. The handle is made of thermoplastic elastomer: to the touch - dense rubber.

Experience of application

The "SMERSH" knife was used by me personally as a hiking (tourist) knife . At the same time I want to note that I do not go to the mountains once a year during the holidays. I live in Prykarpattya, and for me hiking in the mountains is like visiting a gym: at least three or four days a month, regardless of the season. Therefore, the knife was used quite often. First impressions of the knife leaves positive. Firstly, thanks to a fine leather sheath with a velcro fastening for the tourist, the knife is easily and reliably attached to the belt or equipment and can be removed as easily and quickly. In the mountains, such convenience is very useful, because due to the constant weather change it is often necessary to change the outer clothing (literally on the move), and any other knife would be under the jacket, which is not always convenient. A knife "SMERSH" can easily, without unbuckling the belt, remove and fasten elsewhere. Secondly, the hilt leaves no less pleasant impression. Do not slip in a sweaty or wet hand, ideally it lies, even if wearing gloves. In the cold, it does not lose plasticity and does not freeze. But his main purpose (as a universal tool), the knife does not justify. Too thick otokh (almost 6 mm) makes it difficult to manipulate during domestic work. They can not cut thinly fat, and potatoes can only be cut. The contents of cans, opened with its help, partially turns into a mess. And the steel blade is soft for this. Any careless impact on the stone, for example, during the chopping of the chips for breeding the fire and the RK immediately breaks. Of course, this blade is not meant to cut nails, but still I would like to have more firmness. However, it is very easy to grind. And last, in order, but not in value, is the price. For a knife that needs sharpening after every can, 80-100 US dollars - obviously a lot.

conclusions

The "SMERSH" knife can not be recommended as a tourist, as opposed to what is written on its label. The same "Finn Wolf" from Cold Steel, though not so externally effective and does not have beautiful scabbards, but is cheaper, lighter, incomparably more convenient in everyday life, and it does not have to be constantly sharpened. "SMERSH" - a beautiful knife with a pronounced combat functionality. Holding it in your hand, you feel the ability to pierce anything. And the lack of a guard (which has, for example, a knife "SMERSH5") does not interfere with a very good hilt. For example, a 450-leaf book breaks through the blade, which for the Cold Steel knife is an impossible task. And in general, an interesting "toy."
