Klimov's factory: history, production, products

JSC "Klimova Plant" more than 100 years specializes in repair, and later - in the manufacture of engines for various purposes. Today the enterprise in the world is known as the leading developer of gas turbine power units for helicopters of domestic companies "Kamov" and "Mil". It is a structural subdivision of state corporation "Rostekh".

Historical reference

The Klimov plant in St. Petersburg was formed in 1927 through the merger of Krasny Oktyabr and Russky Reno enterprises. His work is connected with the brilliant Russian aircraft builder V. Ya. Klimov, a student of no less than the genius aircraft designer N. Ye. Zhukovsky.

In the thirties, Klimov residents were engaged in servicing and releasing individual units to the tractors' engines, collecting motorcycles of the L and C series, making knots for tanks and shells. Before the war, the plant mastered the production of piston engine M-100, which was a licensed copy of the French 12Ybrs model.

In the 1940s, KB was created at the enterprise under the leadership of Vladimir Yakovlevich Klimov . Its engines RD-10 were installed on the first-born of Soviet jet aircraft - the Yak-15 aircraft. The next generation of turbo engines of the VC series was widely used in fighter aircraft, they were equipped with reconnaissance vehicles and bombers of the USSR.

Production of power units for a new class of aircraft - helicopters - began in 1962. Until the 1970s, models for the series GDT and TV were developed. In 1971, Klimov's plant participated in the design (with extensive cooperation with other design bureaus and research institutes) of the RD-33 engine, which became the heart of the maneuverable MiG-29. By the way, this engine in various modifications was subsequently used in foreign fighters "Super-7" and "Mirage".

In the 1990s, the company diversified its activities through the creation of power plants based on aircraft and helicopter engines. The revival of helicopter industry in 2000 required the construction of modern more economical powertrains. In 2001, the VK-2500 engine was introduced, designed to lift the Mi and Ka devices of the middle class.

Production

Klimov's factory carries out a full complex of works on designing, manufacturing and testing:

  • Engines to aircraft, their units and units, including space vehicles.
  • Power industrial plants and pumps of various uses, including energy-saving ones.
  • Onboard aviation and radio electronic systems, power supply equipment, signaling systems, automated data logging and airborne control.

In addition to the production of finished power units and aircraft equipment, the Klimov Plant carries out:
