Implantation of heart valves

The heart and the circulatory system are very complex. Consequently, there are a huge number of diseases that are often very serious or even life-threatening. One of the most common causes of death in the world are deaths from cardiovascular diseases.

The heart is a hollow muscular organ located in the left side of the chest. The heart is the main part of the circulatory system. It acts as a blood pump, which causes the blood to move all over the body.

The heart of the septum is divided into two parts: left and right. In turn, each side is divided into the upper part, or the atrium, and the lower part, or the ventricle. Thus, the human heart has four cavities:

  • right atrium,
  • Right ventricle,
  • Left atrium,
  • Left ventricle.

The heart valves connect these cavities, and their action depends on the difference in pressure in both sides of the valve. The cardiac cycle of variations in the pressure of the heart cavity is a passive valvular movement - opening and closing.

Atrioventricular valves, or hatch valves, separate the atrial cavities from the ventricular cavities.

The half-month valves are the connection of the left ventricle with the aorta and the right ventricle with the pulmonary trunk.

Valves perform their function until they are defective.

Defects of valves can be either congenital, or the cause of the disease, often resulting from rheumatism, may appear.

There are two types of valve diseases: valve failure and narrowing of the holes, or stenosis.

When the valves are inadequate , the valves do not close well, and some of the blood flows back, for example, from the ventricles into the atrium or from the aorta back to the left ventricle. Consequently, too much blood accumulates in the cavities of the heart, and the body does not receive it in the required quantity.

With stenosis, blood flows out of the holes is difficult.

Heart valves need to perform their function very precisely - at the right time, close and open. The disease occurs when the valves stop performing this function. Diseases cause difficulty in blood circulation. Sometimes there is inflammation of the heart valves, when the loops of the valves multiply bacteria that interfere with the normal functioning of the heart. This disease is called bacterial endocarditis. Diseases of the heart valves are often treated surgically - removing defects through surgery.

Often operations are used to replace or restore valves. In the case of valve replacement, implants, artificial or implant animals are used.

If earlier heart valve implantation was performed only surgically, opening the thorax and connecting the patient to an artificial circulation device, now scientists have created the possibility of implanting the heart valves in a minimally invasive way by making a small incision on the left breast. Valve implantation is performed through the terminal part of the heart with a special catheter, and using a special ball, a new valve is inserted into the old one.

This type of surgery has the advantage in patients in the group of high surgical risk, such as elderly patients with various concomitant diseases, or patients with a high risk of anesthesia. Specialists in cardiac surgeons believe that operations for the replacement of heart valves will continue to be carried out by both methods, since each case is individual. In the near future, cardiosurgeons plan to take one more step forward and implant heart valves through the arteries of the foot.

Consult about the condition of your heart and determine the best type of treatment if necessary, better in the best clinics. Qualitative treatment of cardiovascular diseases can be obtained in the cardiological centers of Germany. This country has repeatedly proved its reputation as one of the best in modern methods of treatment.
