How to sew a quilt

All sorts of hobbies and hobbies are as relevant today as ever, especially among girls and women, who are so fond of decorating their homes in every possible way. In addition, the practice of needlework is well "pushed" the opportunity to have in the house absolutely exclusive and unique things that no one else has. Especially good in this sense patchwork. It's sewing just about anything, from a multitude of different cloth scraps. By this method it is possible to make at least original curtains, at least Blankets, at least cushions. But today we will tell you how to sew a stunning quilt from the remnants of grandmother's gowns and skirts . Thus, you will usefully use unnecessary, but still whole rags, and at the same time update the appearance of an old but beloved and warm blanket. Even the simplest and uncomplicated way - stitching square shreds - will transform the product. If you are carried away, you can later create real patchwork masterpieces, which will be a very appropriate gift to friends and family.

So, to sew a patchwork quilt with your own hands, you first need to determine its size. For example, for a double curtain you need to cut out 49 squares with sides of 32 cm. Take the cloth "different", both in color and texture. The main thing is that the overall combination of the pieces should delight the eye. Place the cut out squares in seven rows (seven scraps in each). This will allow you to see the big picture of what your future will look like E blanket. While the pieces are not sewn, you can shift them in places until you achieve the most harmonious combination. When you are satisfied, you will only have to sew them in the same order in which they were laid out. They are simply connected: two neighboring shreds are folded one with the other, the wrong sides outward, and are stitched along the edge, with an indentation of one centimeter. After this, the sewn is to be unfolded with a seam up and ironed over its center. When one row of seven pieces is ready, proceed to the next one, and so on until you have seven identical patchwork bands in your hands. They are sewn along the length, and the seams are also ironed. If there is an overlock, then the edge of the product can be processed by it. Or to flash a zigzag.

You have on hand already almost ready patchwork quilt, to be exact - the upper part of its cover. The bottom part does not have to be sewn from the shreds, the whole fabric, for example, made of taffeta, is suitable. Its size should match the size of the square that we just made. We spend both parts along the entire perimeter, leaving only a small gap, through which we twist the resulting cover and put our old, favorite blanket into it. Well straighten it in the corners and manually sew a hole with a hidden seam . A couple more moments - and the patchwork quilt will be completely ready. All that is left is to quilk it and, if desired, decorate the fittings. To do this, gypsy needle through and through the product in the places where the corners of the squares meet. In the same places you can sew fabric flowers, bows or anything else you want.

As you can see, everything is not so difficult, one day it is quite possible to cope. In the same way, you can make a baby patchwork quilt. Your child will probably feel even more comfortable sleeping under it.
