How to properly make the roof insulation from the inside

It is best to conduct the roof insulation before installing the roofing, because this is a more efficient and easier way. Unfortunately, this is not always possible. The reasons for this can be a lot - for example, unexpected changes in weather conditions, which can damage the structure. This is why it may be necessary to insulate the roof from the inside.

In order to perform all the work on the level, observe some simple rules that are the same for cases when both mineral and ecological insulation is used. When carrying out the installation procedure, make sure that the ventilation gap is open. If a special under-roof membrane is used, mount the insulation close to its surface. So the material will be close to the film, but it should not lift it above the rafters, because the ventilation gap will be blocked. There should be two. One - above the membrane, and the other - under it. In order to check the necessary distance between the heater and the film in one centimeter, pull a special stop.

Place joints of heat insulation sheets in a staggered pattern in adjacent layers. If they have a thickness of about twenty centimeters, it is better to place them not in four layers, but in two to ten centimeters. To the heater is snug against the rafters, its width should be slightly larger than the distance between them. Used in the installation of natural materials are much less prone to crumbling and more elastic than those that are made on a mineral basis. Applying an ecological insulation, you can tolerate small irregularities along the edges.

Make sure that the insulation boards are snug not only to the rafters, but also to each other. In the presence of cracks, even a small size, frost may form in the frosty weather, and after it begins to melt, the roof will leak. If the roof is insulated from the inside in the presence of rafters with a large pitch of the location, additionally fix the insulating material from the side of the room. This will help wire. Attach it to the rafters with screws, and in the future the heater will support the installed crate.

In case the construction does not allow the insulation to be made with sufficient thickness, use the following scheme: make the roof insulation from the inside between the rafters and under them. Crosswise fix the bars of the crate on the side of the room, between which install an additional layer of insulating material. This method is quite effective, as the rafters will be completely blocked by a heater.

When using a material based on mineral fibers, arrange a vapor barrier on the side of the room. Do not save in the process of choosing a film, as possible damage and defects can lead to loss of efficiency of the heater. This happens after waterlogging the mineral fiber material.
