How to make buffers by hand? Scheme: pillow buffers

If you are not indifferent to decorating an interior and pay special attention to textiles, you most likely have ever seen or even bought pillows, bedspreads decorated with convex folds that make up complex embossed patterns. Perhaps you thought that it is impossible to make such beauty with your own hands, and even a beginner. In fact, the work uses a fairly simple scheme. Buffers can be created easily using only a thread with a needle. Of course, you need patience, accuracy, as well as the ability to follow instructions clearly.

Beautiful decor

If you work a lot with fabric, sew textile souvenirs, curtains, clothes, etc., then always there are extra scraps not only very small, but also large enough. Of these, you can create amazing beauty accessories, for example, pillows with a relief surface, consisting of curly folds. For their manufacture, the same scheme is used. Buffers are created by tightening the fabric around the points, which are arranged according to the markings made according to the template.

As a result, very effective air folds are obtained, which go one by one successively.

Types of wrinkles

If you make buffs with your own hands, schemes can be taken ready or, having understood the principle, to develop independently. The meaning of the work is that on the fabric, usually from the wrong side, but sometimes also from the front side, a matrix is drawn out of the cells, at the vertices of which the points are arranged. They need to be combined with a thread in a certain sequence and regularity. Patterns are very different:

  • Concentric (going around the circumference from the edges to the center).
  • Linear (from left to right in one lane).
  • Multi-row (usually used for pillows).
  • Complex ornamental (in the center of the pillow and in the corners a certain similar or different pattern is created).

As for the form, the folds can be in the form of bows, flowers, waves, a system reminiscent of weaving, scales.

Areas of application of buffers

Since a simple scheme is used to create such a beautiful decor, buffets can be taken as a basis for any textile decoration. Such impressive pleats decorate the surfaces of the following things:

  • Pillows (pillow cases).
  • Cover and plaids.
  • Curtains and lambrequins.
  • Poofikov.
  • Bags.
  • Dresses, sarafans, blouses.
  • Sharfikov and hats.
  • Tissue rims for hair.

In fact, this technology can be applied to any textile product that has a flat plane to create wrinkles.

Helpful Tips

Various buffers (schemes) will be presented below. Step-by-step work is not difficult, but will require assiduity and counting. There are moments on which it is necessary to pay special attention:

  1. The amount of fabric needed to create wrinkles is usually taken twice the size of the finished product, that is, if you have a 40 x 40 pillow, then the square will take 80 x 80 (if the entire surface is evenly filled) plus the allowances for seams when you spend the pillowcases. In complex patterns, determine experimentally, for example, by trying to make a pattern element on a small shred, the original size of which you measure, and then see how much it has decreased and make calculations.
  2. The size of the cell can also be anything. Naturally, for a coverlet it will be more than for a pillow, but it all depends on the chosen pattern. Usually the distance between adjacent points is 1.5-2.5 cm.
  3. To make buffers, the diagrams need to be moved step-by-step carefully and carefully with a special marker for the fabric, which can then be removed. It is better to designate not only the points, but also the guiding threads.

Here are the main tips that should be considered when preparing and in the process of work.

What will be required

In fact, nothing complicated is needed. The main thing - your accuracy and patience. With regard to materials and devices, they are as follows:

  • The fabric is the right size (better thin).
  • Needle.
  • Thread in the color of the material.
  • Scissors.
  • The marker for the fabric is washed off or disappears.
  • Ruler.
  • Sample pattern on paper.
  • Beads (to decorate the places of tightening and visible threads, for example, in a pattern with flowers).

As you can see, nothing complicated. If it's a problem to buy a special marker, use a simple simple pencil and a fabric eraser, or just a finely chiseled chalk or a remnant for lines, although this is not so convenient.

Beautiful pillow: buffers (scheme)

The first illustration below shows one of the simple templates. The numbers indicate the sequence of contraction of points. Each element of the pattern is the same: the thread is cut to the bottom left of the square, then along the diagonal, then to the next left and again diagonally in the opposite direction. The thread is fixed at the beginning, and then proceeds to the next element.

The sequence of connecting points does not necessarily indicate a tissue. If you remember so, just draw the guides for the stitches.

Very impressive look patterns that are symmetrical and mirror-like with respect to the center of the square, but the first scheme can also create an interesting texture of the surface of the product.

Pillows with your own hands: puffs

Schemes, as already mentioned, can be used any. Even the simplest versions in the assembled form look very impressive. The sequence of work will always be this:

  1. Cut a piece of cloth of the desired shape and size.
  2. Prepare a pattern outline (draw it yourself or download a template from the Internet).
  3. Turn the fabric over the wrong side and draw a grid-matrix there.
  4. Count the points according to the pattern through which the needle will pass. Label them.
  5. Show the guides along which the fabric will shrink (preferably with arrows like a paper chart).
  6. Proceed directly to the formation of folds, stretching the thread and fixing it in the right places in accordance with the scheme.
  7. When all the wrinkles are made, you can use the resulting part to make a pillow.

With such a simple technology, work is always done. In each particular pattern, the direction of movement of the needle and the place of fixation of the thread are their own.

So, you saw how to make gorgeous accessories for your interior. Any circuit can be used for operation. The buffs always look spectacular, even the simplest ones. The main thing is to do the work accurately by marking and accurately fix the threads.
