Why use flizelin formand?

In this article we will talk about the auxiliary sewing material that is used to create clothes. With its help, the most vulnerable to deformation clothing details, such as shoulder seams and neck, are processed, thereby preserving their original appearance.

Where is it used?

There is a common opinion that vermilion fiber is one of the specific types of tissue. However, this is not so, it is not even a type of conventional non-woven fabric. This is just a piece of conventional glutinous fleece, cut for convenience in the form of an oblique bake with a width of 1.2 cm. A distance of 0.4 cm from the edge is the chain seam necessary to stabilize the shape of the product.

Most often it is used in the neck, gates or shoulder seam area. If you want to tie the neck of a sweater or sew the details of the product at an angle of 45 degrees, then the fleece with a photo below is perfect for this. It is able to securely fix the shape of the product, soft when in contact with the skin and, importantly, does not allow the fabric to lose elasticity.

There are a lot of color shades, from gray to pure white, but most often on sale you can find white and the color of graphite. The material is sold for a meter in specialized stores.

History of occurrence

The use of nonwoven fabric began in the 19th century. Such an idea arose in Germany in factories, when it was necessary to find cheap and easy-to-use lining material for clothing production. In fact, the fleece fiber is not even a fabric, since a paper-like cloth is used for its production.

People often call it a cloth, perhaps because of low awareness, or maybe because it is actively used for sewing fabric products. Most often it is used during embroidery with beads and cross.

As for Russia, then it was used only in the factories in the late 1920s, and with the hand-making of things - only 16 years ago.

Features and properties of the material

This is a unique material, which can be both conventional and glued. But whatever is taken as a basis, the fleece molding is always elastic, very thin and can quickly restore its original shape. In its production, a regular non-woven fleece is used, which is cut into strips of a certain width. Since it is most often used on the turns of the product, these strips must be cut out oblique. Often needlewomen ask a question about the fact that if you can not find non-woven fabrics, how can you replace it? You can take a regular fleece and cut from it a strip of the necessary width at an angle.

The flizelin itself is made from specific fibers that have undergone a certain chemical treatment. Do not underestimate the flizelin forman, because it is very thin, but it can protect the product from twisting, shedding and deformation. The value of this auxiliary material is that it is capable of improving the technical characteristics of the basic material of which the article consists.

The main feature of the material is its strength. It has been experimentally proven that products sewn with its use are more resistant to wear and abrasion. Formbond protects them from excessive moisture and dirt. Very often this material can be found on paillettes and when embroidering with beads and ribbons. In such products, the ability to maintain shape is the main quality of non-woven fabric.

A very important feature of water-soluble non-woven fabrics is its sensitivity to high temperatures. If you iron the product, which was used to finish the non-woven fabric, then its parts are stuck together.

Application area

The field of application of nonwoven fabrics is quite extensive.

  • When tailoring. Flizelin is used in the manufacture of both outerwear and delicate thin dresses.
  • Manufacturing of various parts of clothing. Most often this applies to the neck of the product. For finishing the edges of fabric or a certain product, nonwoven fleece glue is used. Thanks to the additional protection of the shelf, the shoulder seams, necklines, and other parts of knitted clothing, most often subjected to stress, retain their original appearance and are not subject to wear.
  • For creativity. The needlewomen also took note of the non-woven fabric. Most often it is used for embroidery threads, beads, paetkami, ribbons. Thanks to him threads will lie evenly and beautifully, without creating tension and "accordion". If we are talking about beads, then without non-woven fabric, there certainly can not be.
  • For compositions. In florists, this material for use in boutonniere and bouquets is also on the first place, well, if you do not count the flowers themselves. Especially beautiful looks violet, laid out by individual fibers on a bouquet in the form of a web.

Using

To keep the product retain its shape, it is necessary to know how to properly iron the fleece molding to it. For this, it is necessary to cut out the fleece the same size as the part from the fabric, making allowances for the seams. A little heat the iron, iron to the fabric from the wrong side. Do this carefully and on a dry one. So that the non-woven fabric does not move, it is best to first glue it in several places, only then completely heat it. When the parts are glued together, they need to be postponed for some time to cool down.

Care of the material

If the fleece is in a skein, then it must be stored in a place protected from sunlight and with a relatively constant temperature. If it is in the composition of floral compositions, it is still worth avoiding contact with water, as the fleece loses shape.

But no warning applies to non-woven fleece, which was used to make garments because it is protected by a layer of fabric.
