How to make a dog suit for a child?

Traditionally, on New Year's matinees in a kindergarten or in an elementary school, teachers and educators, along with children, arrange sets of scenes, the characters of which are animals, including dogs.

If your child has this role, then he will need an appropriate outfit. And do not rush to find a salon where you can rent a dog's suit. With his hands for the child, it's easy to make, enough to be patient and to include imagination.

What will be required

The dog's costume should consist of:

• Shirts;
• Spacious trousers with a tail;
• Hats with ears;
• Fur vest.

This will require:

• Simple, non-transparent fabric for trousers and hats, for example, gabardine light brown, beige or light gray;
• Satin or crepe-satin for the decoration of the dog's ears and applications;
• An artificial fur of color, suitable to the shade of gabardine, from which the waistcoat, tail, ears and trim will be sewn;
• Satin ribbon for the collar;
• Wide elastic band;
• Bugles and sequins for decorating the edges of the applique.

Where to begin

To make a dog suit, you will need a sewing machine and basic patterns of a children's vest (jacket) and trousers (shorts).

Next, using patterns, cut out the necessary details. It should turn out:

• 2 shelves;
• Back of waistcoat;
• 2 pieces of front and back of trousers.

Sew a dog's suit: the order of manufacturing a fur vest

For sewing this part of the attire dogs arrive as follows:

• Take a rectangular piece, fold the fur inward along the length and sew in a tube;
• Turn out and manually, using a needle and thread, give the workpiece a tail shape;
• Sewn in the back of the trousers.

To make it, use the pattern below. Then:

• Transfer the contours to the base fabric;
• Cut out;
• They sew a hat with a visor, putting a piece of cardboard of the same shape into it;
• From the remains of fur, 2 details of the upper part of the dog's ear are cut out, and from the atlas for the lower part;
• Fold them in pairs face-to-face;
• Stitch and twist;
• The ears are sewn to the cap by hand.

In order not to suffer with the sewing of the headdress, you can take a ready-made baseball cap of black, coffee or dark brown colors with not too big visor. Next, sew "ears" (see the instructions above) and fix on the cap with the help of needles and threads.

Makeup

Having finished sewing a dog suit with his own hands for a child, it's time to think about how to decorate the face so that it looks like a muzzle. To do this, you can use ordinary eye shadow and mommy's foundation, but first check on the elbow of the baby's elbow if he has any allergies on them.

If your child has sensitive skin, then he will prefer a special safe aquagrim or mask.

The dog's muzzle is drawn like this:

• On the tip of the nose put a point;

To do this, from the dense fabric, for example, from the flaps remaining after the trousers are cut, cut out 10 circles with a diameter of the phalanx of the child's finger and 2 details in the form of a triangle with rounded corners for each of the palms. They are glued or sewn on gloves in the right places.

Mask

The suit of a dog can be supplemented with a mask instead of a make-up. It is made of cardboard and colored paper, better than velvet, several colors: brown, black and beige. Having cut out the necessary details, they are glued to the base and supplied with a mask of ties.

Dog collar

Such an accessory does not have to be done, but it will add an image of recognition. To make it, you will need a silk ribbon and a metal ring of suitable diameter. From a piece of white cardboard a "bone" is cut in length of 5 cm. Then it is suspended on the collar in the form of a peculiar pendant. At the ends of the tape sew two pieces of velcro fastener so that the "collar" tightly wraps around the child's neck.

If you have a dog suit for a boy on the basis of a turtleneck, then the accessory can be tied over her neck.
