How to glue puzzles: different ways

People who are sly and tranquil often spend their leisure time, collecting large and complex puzzles. As well as children who develop small motor skills and logic. And now, when all the details are put in their place, a logical question arises about what to do with the collected picture. Disassemble and put it back in the box? Or leave as a picture? And then how to glue the puzzles so that they do not fall apart? There are several ways to make a dream come true.

How to glue puzzles with glue?

Now in art shops you can find such a tool as a glue base for mosaics, and puzzles, too. This can be both an adhesive type PVA, and the glue film is transparent. The latter is advisable to use only for pictures of small size, since there is a risk that they will be obtained with air bubbles or jams. It is very difficult to apply a film over a large area. There are basically two main ways to stick together puzzles.

Option number 1: flipping the picture

It is very important that on which the cardboard mosaic was originally assembled. If it is, for example, a sheet of fiberboard or chipboard, a mat for puzzles or a cardboard, it will not be difficult to turn over the finished picture. To do this, you just need to put another similar sheet on top of the mosaic, press it tightly, and then turn it over. If the picture is very large, then you can additionally attach the substrate with paper clips or tape. After on the wrong side of the puzzle, apply glue and allow it to dry completely, as indicated in the instructions. For those who have not purchased an adhesive, all the same scotch can be useful. The strips are laid in width (so it will be denser), and overlap. So the picture will last longer. It does not really matter if air bubbles get under the tape or not. From the underside of this all the same it is not visible, but it is not necessary to neglect accuracy.

Option number 2: without a coup

If puzzles were collected on the floor, and the size just does not allow you to quickly turn over the finished picture, then you can pin all without any upheavals. For this, first of all, it is necessary to slip polyethylene under the future picture. For example, it can be a trash can. What is it for? In order not to spoil the floor covering with glue. Even the biggest picture is not so difficult to drag on the sly to polyethylene, neatly, centimeter by centimeter. After that, you can use various means to fasten the puzzle. For example, a liquid-diluted PVA-glue. Or all the same transparent scotch. For application it is more expedient to use a wide and flat brush. If you stick a transparent tape, then you need to do it very carefully, so that there are no bubbles with air, no hitching, no folds. On the glue from above it will not be superfluous to apply also a layer of varnish without color. This will give a gloss to the picture and will tie the elements together even more tightly.

Mixed variant, universal method

Often used and universal gluing. Here, several technologies are used immediately. For example, before gluing the puzzles with adhesive tape from the front side, the fabric web is glued to the wrong side. Due to it, the picture is more confident. But this method requires a double revolution of the finished mosaic. Fabric can be made of any material: cotton, flax, cotton blend. It is advisable to give preference to natural tissues, since they are most simple in gluing.

Another universal option is a mix of glue and scotch that are attached to one side. For example, facial. Before you glue the assembled puzzles, you need to remove all debris, dust and dirt. This will require a fan brush or a simple thick brush. Apply diluted liquid PVA glue, allow it to dry for 2 hours, then glue strips of transparent adhesive tape. You can not apply varnish on top. The picture is so glossy.

Some tips for applying

Each of the adhesives has its own features in operation. For example, it is recommended to apply adhesive tape not just along the width of the picture, but also with the allowance. Why? This will ensure a large strength of the structure. Surplus can then be cut off gently with a blade or a clerical knife. Only sharpened.

Before you glue a picture of puzzles, pay special attention to where it is still located. If you move the composition on the sheets of the DVP from the table, it is not too difficult, then from the floor it is more problematic. It is advisable to immediately begin to collect puzzles with the calculation of further gluing on a special rug or sheet of plywood. In the future, the picture can be inserted into the frame and hung on the wall as a decorative element.
