How to celebrate the Fisherman's Day in Russia

"My native country is wide, there are a lot of forests, fields and rivers in it ..." And more creeks, lakes, seas - in a word, a lot of water objects on which you can go fishing. It's no surprise that almost every man loves fishing in our country, and many women also will not refuse to sit with the fishing rod by the water.

Another thing - those for whom fishing is not just a hobby, but the main activity. Fishery is a large industrial sector, which includes fishing for a variety of needs. Let's talk about those who are engaged in an important and necessary business. About those whose holiday is Fisherman's Day. And we will plunge into the history of this day.

The day of the fisherman in Russia was created precisely as a professional holiday. But soon it began to celebrate and all those who refer themselves to the brotherhood of lovers to pick up a fishing pole in the early foggy morning. There is no specific date for this day, it is celebrated every second Sunday with a hot July.

Saying that a fisherman is twice a sailor is true for one hundred percent! After all, in their entire life, the fishermen have traveled so many miles on the boat, they have raised so much catch from the river or sea depths that they can not count. And professionals and do spend three times more time on water than on land. With special pride they celebrate the Fisherman's Day - especially those for whom this occupation is a family one.

The official celebration of this day began in 1989, after approval by the Soviet Presidium. However, many disagree with this. The profession of a fisherman is very ancient and universal - even the World Fisherman's Day exists! Although in Russia it is special. After all, our country has long been the largest and most numerous fishing fleet, it was we who occupied the first place among all other countries in this industry. Therefore, the fishermen began to celebrate their holiday much earlier.

How was Fisherman's Day celebrated? At each fishing base, solemn evenings were held, the best fishermen received commendable certificates, money prizes, souvenirs. Each ship anchored in the port raised all the flags. And on one or several ships, excursions were usually conducted for everyone who wanted to dive into the fishing life.

Since the second half of the 70s, we in Russia have united the Fisherman's Day with one more event - the holiday of the Sea. As a result, it turned out almost a whole week, full of various thematic events. Funny fairs were opened, on which it was possible to acquire artful products of folk artists. The river poured beer, national cuisine could be tried on every corner. Part of the holiday was, of course, musical accompaniment - in the form of concert performances by bands for a variety of tastes. And the culmination was a large-scale carnival procession, over land and water. These activities varied, depending on the city, but everywhere they were different and very beautiful.

And what about fishing? It so happened that in recent decades the percentage of fish consumption by the population of our country has fallen dramatically. If earlier a Soviet citizen ate an average of 20 kilograms of this most valuable product per year, today this figure fell to 12 kilograms, but in fact it is even less.

Of course, blame fishermen in this is not worth it. But it's time for industry leaders to pay attention to the state of affairs in the country, to listen to the problems and needs of fishermen. Well, we wish these brave, patient, hard-working people luck and worthy catches. Happy holiday to you!
