How many live cockroaches? Without food, without water and without a head?

On the amazing survivability of cockroaches, if you believe rumors that do not know the boundaries, there are many rumors in the people. They say that these insects are able to live for years, they will not even be killed by strong radiation, and food and water are consumed from some kind of whim only led by them, that is, if necessary, cockroaches can live without eating. Some argue that they do not need a head, they can exist without it.

Radiation is still capable of killing parasites, since it affects all living things, without any exceptions, but the dose that can cause critical damage to a person is harmless to a cockroach, their threshold is overestimated fifteen times. However, in the truthfulness of the remaining legends, in particular, in those that talk about how many live cockroaches, it is necessary to properly understand.

Lifespan of red cockroaches

How many live cockroaches, called in the people "red" or "prusak", provided that they do not experience food problems, depends largely on the temperature of the air in the place where they have to live. The most optimal is the temperature, which keeps around twenty degrees. Taking into account the larval stage of life, in a comfortable environment cockroaches are able to live a year, leaving behind a lifetime of decent offspring.

The lifespan of black cockroaches

This type of parasite is more enduring and prolific, compared with the red cousins. Mostly they are planted in garbage dumps and in basements, that is, they terrorize the inhabitants of the lower floors of multi-storey houses more. Many people ask themselves: how many live cockroaches belonging to this species? After all, their getting into the house promises a lot of problems. Black cockroaches, under favorable conditions, can remain alive for two years, bringing a consistently impressive offspring. The female of this parasite lives longer than the male.

How many live cockroaches without food?

To the great disappointment of many people, these parasites can do without food for a long time: the Prussians live without food for up to forty days, and their black cousins - up to seventy. Such survivability can be explained quite simply: cockroaches are poikilothermic organisms, that is, in simple terms, they are cold-blooded. They do not need to maintain a fixed temperature of the body, so much of the energy is not wasted, but is stored in the cells of the body.

The metabolic rate in poikilothermic creatures is twenty times lower than in warm-blooded animals, so it is sufficient for the cockroach to consume food only once, so that the energy received is sufficient for a long period, including several weeks, without feeling hungry. This body device has significant drawbacks. The main source of energy production by cockroaches is external resources, that is, insects can live comfortably only in well-heated places, with a negative temperature, the number of their population significantly decreases.

How many cockroaches live without water?

It would seem that once parasites can exist without food for many weeks, then water should not play an important role in their life activity. However, this is not quite true. In this case, how many live cockroaches without the use of life-giving liquid? Not more than a week. This is due to the fact that water performs a key function in the life of each creature, because it is an important component of every cell in the body.
Cockroaches are not able to live long without water, so they choose moist foods as food (for example, waste). Water is necessary for them to carry out the digestion process, as well as for the full functionality of the salivary glands, for the well-coordinated work of the circulatory system.

The excellent thermal conductivity of a fluid largely reveals the importance of its role as a temperature regulator in animal organisms. Thus, from the overheating of parasites, the release of water droplets through special holes on the body saves, and the management of the nocturnal lifestyle and the durable chitinous shell protecting the cockroach from loss of liquid help to live the insect in conditions of low humidity.

Can a cockroach live without a head?

Each of us has ever wondered: how long does a cockroach live without a head, and in general, is it possible? The answer may seem strange, but it is positive. To understand the unusual nature of this phenomenon, it is enough to learn that the life support system of the cockroach is not arranged in the same way as in man. If the latter loss of the head promises a huge blood loss, a drop in pressure and a loss of oxygen, then the insect will not have any of the above. The circulatory system of the cockroach is not closed, it is completely devoid of capillaries, therefore the pressure in it is not of great importance. According to the scientist who studied the structure of the cockroach's organism, if you tear off the head of an insect, the vessels on the neck are sealed with clots of coagulated blood. The circulatory system will resume work.
