How is the electrovalve for water and where is it used?

The electric water supply valves (also called "solenoid") represent a small electromechanical device and are designed to open and close the circuits of a hot or cold water flow. What is their design and where do they apply? The answers to all these and many other questions will be found in our today's article.

Device

The electrovalve for water consists of two main functional units: an electromagnet (solenoid) and a valve with a through hole. In this case, the solenoid is equipped with a special piston, also called a "core". The second functional node is mounted on the disk in order to block or open the water flow. The valve of the device can change its position only by the movement of the core retracting into the solenoid.

Where is it applied?

It should be noted that electro valves can be used in a wide variety of fields: gas supply, air conditioning, ventilation, and steam condensate systems. In our case, this device is used in the water supply system, which determines its name "for water". Why is it so in demand in the economy and industry? Because with the help of a solenoid valve, you can remotely control the flow of the required volume of liquid (or gas) at any given time. Often, these devices ensure the normal operation of boiler facilities, and in everyday life - metered, mixed and supplied with the necessary water flows.

Work algorithm

The electrovalve for water has the following operating principle:

  1. An electric current is fed to a special electromagnetic coil.
  2. The magnetic core is drawn into the solenoid.
  3. As a consequence, the valve is opened or closed. Thus, the water flow freely flows or, conversely, is blocked in the water supply system.

It should be noted that practically on all devices of this type the core is placed inside a special closed tube. This is done so that during the flow of water the water does not penetrate into the electromechanical system of the valve and thus does not provoke a short circuit and subsequent failure of the mechanism.

Material

The main material from which the electrovalve for water is made is forged brass or stainless steel. The latter is most often used in devices that interact with aggressive agents, acids and food. Brass is also used for the supply of ordinary water without the addition of special substances. At the same time, the construction of this mechanism includes a special heat-resistant epoxy resin, which allows the device to regulate the flow of water and steam at a temperature of up to 200 degrees Celsius.

The electrovalve for water: the price

The cost of such a device is an average of 3 to 5 thousand rubles per unit. The price of some devices may reach 10,000 rubles, but due to their high cost, these models are not used in the field of water supply.
