Gurgen Dabagyan: biography and discography

Armenian folk singer Gurgen Dabagyan ascended the musical Olympus as a "miracle child". He did not know how to write and read when he began to collect huge rooms. The angelic voice of the boy could not leave anyone indifferent, especially when he was performing church songs.

Gurgen Dabagyan: biography of the genus

He was born in 1988, March 10, in the capital of the Republic of Armenia in a musical family. From infancy he grew up to the sounds of ancient Armenian songs. His family had rich musical traditions. All members of the ancient family possessed excellent vocal data. Their roots were from Western Armenia, the city of Bayazet. In the years of the Armenian Genocide, they had to flee to the east and settle on the shores of Lake Sevan. Gurgen's father, Levon, is also a singer, but Gevorg Dabagyan, the uncle of the young singer, enjoys special popularity in the republic. He is a professor at the Yerevan Conservatory and a master of duduk. Due to his virtuosic performance, he repeatedly became a laureate and winner of various musical competitions.

Creative way

Gurgen Dabagyan started singing when he was six years old. For the first time he saw the film "Sayat-Nova", he began to independently play the melodies that sounded in the film, then, having learned the words of songs with the help of his grandmother, began to execute them masterfully. In one of the episodes of the film ashug Sayat-Nova, singing the song "Tamam Ashkhar" (by the way, the well-known singer Eva Rivas also performs it), won the title of the best singer and songwriter of the country in the Ashug awards contest. This moment was very impressive for the boy and he, inspired by the victory of Sayat-Nova, decided to seriously engage in music. At first the little singer performed exclusively the songs of this famous Armenian composer, singer and poet. He had a dream - to visit the grave of his beloved composer in Tbilisi, and in 1999 he managed to implement it. The first audio recording of Gurgen was made in 1995, when he was 7 years old. At the age of eight, the boy already had his first laser disc.

Competitions and concerts

In 1996, eight-year-old Gurgen Dabagyan took part in the Gohar Gasparyan competition, where he was awarded a gold medal. In the same year, at the competition dedicated to the fifth anniversary of Armenia's independence, he took the first place of honor. In 2000, with a 12-year-old teenager, he gave a solo concert before the Armenian Diaspora in the United States. It was a real triumph for the young performer, his high point. Songs of Gurgen Dabagyan woke nostalgia in emigrants, and were touched and amazed with high performing skills. During his solo concert in New York, he received a gold crown as a gift, and since then he has been called "The Little Prince of Armenian Song". This was even written in the journal The New York Times. Later, he began a tour of Europe (Germany, England, etc.), America and Asia. At the end of 2003, at the "Road to the Future" competition, organized by the "Armenia" All-Armenian Fund, he was recognized as the best singer and custodian of the Armenian national traditions.

The first disc was dedicated to the 285th anniversary of Sayat-Nova. The second was released after he received the title of a little prince and was called the same. The third is "The Sweet Voice." Then there were DVD-records.

Resumption of activities

At some point, due to age changes, Gurgen Dabagyan was forced to take a break in his creative career. In 2007, he again seemed to the viewer, already matured and with a more powerful voice. In honor of his return was organized a concert in the hall. Aram Khachaturian. A year later, he spoke before the members of the Armenian Diaspora in St. Petersburg. In the same year he again visited Los Angeles and gave 2 concerts. Then there were performances in Ukraine and in major Russian cities.

Study and hobbies

Gurgen Dabagyan is also fond of literature, likes to travel and study both historical and natural attractions. He especially likes to be in the mountains. In 2009, he managed to climb to the top of the biblical mountain Ararat - the symbol of Armenia, which, unfortunately, is in the territory of modern Turkey. Here, at an altitude of 5,056 meters with an Armenian tricolor in his hands, he performed Armenian patriotic songs.
