Group "Bricks". From rockers to rappers

In 1995, three young people formed the music group "Bricks". Among them were Vasya Vasin, Kirill Solovyov and Stas Sytnik. This composition has changed several times over the year, and in the end the collective has finally formed. Of the creators, only Vasya remained. Among the newcomers were Danila, also known as MASTA, responsible for the bass guitar, and Zhenya is a drummer. This was the whole composition of the group "Bricks".

A successful start

The beginning of the professional and, it can be said, successful career of young people was laid a year after the formation of their team. It was then that the well-known company "SHOK-Records" became interested in the guys and signed a contract with them.

Group "Bricks" waiting for the record company justified, instantly releasing the album. In addition, a bonus was made by a clip for the song "Baikal". Immediately the team began to gain popularity and gained fame mainly in youth circles.

A little later the guys took part in the St. Petersburg festival "New Wave", for their performance they were awarded the title "Discovery of the Year" and the honorable "Cactus", which is considered the highest award of this festival for the best debut.

As well as the mentioned festival, the term "Discovery of the Year" was associated with the band by the music magazine "Rock-Fuzz", which is quite an authoritative publication. All this happened in 1996.

Festivals and concerts

In the autumn of 1996 the group "Bricks" together with the well-known team "Nautilus Pompilius" got to the concert, organized in connection with the anniversary of broadcasting of the radio "Europe Plus". It was held in Vyborg. October of the same year brought fans a new album, called "Bricks are heavy." His presentation was organized by "SHOCK-Records" in the St. Petersburg club "Polygon". Participated and other young groups, such as Tequilajazzz, "Streets" and others. In honor of this event, director Elizaveta Shalncheva filmed the film "The Luzers", which on March 29, 1997 was awarded a gold medal at the Fifteenth Student Film Festival. D. Vertova.

The album "Bricks Heavy" gained great popularity, attracted the attention of many eminent people from the world of music, made these young guys even more popular.

Also, the group "Bricks" managed to perform at various festivals and concerts. Many of them were iconic in the career of musicians. Among them were the festival "Fill the sky with kindness", held in St. Petersburg at the stadium "Petrovsky", and the concert "Learn to swim 2", held in the capital. Later the team participated in the "Generation-96" festival.

In 1997, together with DJ Kefir, a solo concert was recorded.

In the same year the musicians were invited to the next festival "Learn to Swim". They presented on it their new song "Tortured bastards". Later, she entered the collection of alternative rock "Learn to Swim 3". In the summer, "Bricks" participated in a concert organized by the "DDT Theater" and broadcast on television. The team performed their song "Vodka - bad" here. A month later, the guys went on a small tour, more precisely, visited St. Petersburg, Tver, Novgorod, Pskov and returned to the capital. Together with them on this tour participated Tequilajazzz, "Streets".

Rock & Rap

The beginning of a new era in the history of the group is the end of 1998. Then the team members Jay, Vasya and Danila began to get involved in rap seriously. However, the children did not abandon the musical instruments, they still continued to play rock, but now they alternated with rap.

In 1999, the recording studio "Gala Records" recorded another group album, entitled "Death on the Riva". This collection includes already well-known compositions "I Spit I" and "Tortured Bastards".

"Our Ghetto"

In 1999, the musicians organized a radio program, which they called "Our Ghetto". The program was aired every Monday in St. Petersburg on the local channel "Radio Record". The transmission was devoted to rap, but from time to time the guys surprised their listeners with a heavy guitar game. Engaged in the recording of the program initially all the team members, but eventually began to move away from this lesson. At first this business was thrown by Vasya, and a bit later by Jay. As a result, only Danila continued to pull "Our Ghetto".

Few existed, the transfer was completely closed - the group "Bricks", the discography of which was already quite large by that time, began actively touring.

Death of Jay

On February 18, 2000, one of the musicians (Jay) suddenly died. After his death, the guys released a new album. "Bricks" (the group then remained only with two members in the composition) called this collection "Capitalism 00". And on March 30 of the same year in the club "Spartacus" was held a concert dedicated to the memory of Jay (Evgeny Nazarov). In that concert many friends of the deceased musician participated.

Drummer Jay was replaced by Vadim Latyshev, also known as Nose. Earlier, this guy played in such groups as "Cinema" and "ShAGAI."

Subsequent creative activity

The release of the album "Capitalism 00" entailed additional prominence. One of the record companies invited the group to make a video for the song "Danila Blues". When this clip was released, it became a hit. He constantly turned on all the musical channels of the country, and the song - on radio stations. After that the group "Bricks", whose songs became hits, continued active creative activity.

Numerous concerts have started in different clubs and stadiums. The group resumed touring, began to travel to many cities of the country, participate in various festivals.

So, it would seem, two completely incompatible directions in music (rock and rap) were able to unite in one team. Even more amazing is the army of fans of this group, which also consists of fans of one genre of music, and the other.
