Gala Castle

Once, the castle of Gala was a kind of shelter for her from the bustle of the outside world, where she could rest peacefully. In the period from 1982 to 1984, the castle was finally transformed into the mausoleum of Gala and the artist's last workshop.

Exterior The Castle of Gala is a three-story building, a high and narrow central courtyard, created during the heyday of the Barony in Pubol. The other half belongs to the second half of the fourteenth century and the beginning of the fifteenth.

Dali bought the castle in 1969, the castle was in a sorry state, was badly damaged with large cracks, and the garden was half abandoned and looked more like an ordinary forest. But this combination delighted the lovers of Dali. The castle and the garden seemed incredibly romantic and unusual to them, which added a stimulus to its restoration. Here Salvador Dali let his magnificent talents see extraordinary things in a truly original way.

The artist has preserved traces of the destruction of the castle. In the same way, he transformed the destroyed ceilings, in the most unusual way, breaking the proportions of the same height. The decoration of the walls was created on the basis of images formed by the time itself. Thus, the walls were painted in the most unexpected way, including in themselves, false architectural forms, baroque textiles, antiques and the romantic symbolism of nature ...

Salvador Dali used very reasonably collapsing walls and ceilings, creating unexpected spaces of dimension very reliable. The interior decoration of the walls contains graphic images, false architectures, baroque textiles, antiques, romantic symbolism of nature ... As a result, a cozy place, containing in itself a mysterious, strict and sober, with spaces of extraordinary beauty, inimitable style. For example, the former kitchen turns into a bathroom or take, for example, the hall of the piano Gala.
