Fur "Bobrick": this is what? Not to be confused with the beaver fur!

In recent years, in the sale increasingly began to appear original fur products - fur coats, sheepskin coats, waistcoats made of fur "beaver". But what kind of animal is it, from the fur of which they sew interesting products? Maybe it's a beaver cub or a new development of modern breeders?

Fur hoax

An animal, which is called "beaver", does not exist in nature. A rodent with a valuable fur is a beaver. Most recently he was brought to the Red Book. Fur coats from this animal are quite expensive. There are several reasons for this:

- this is a very rare animal, which is threatened with extinction;

- Beavers are not bred in captivity;

- finished products serve not less than 15 years.

The trustfulness of our customers has played a cruel joke on many of them. Small entrepreneurs and some large trading chains for the beaver fur give out the products of their fur of a very different animal.

Fur "beaver" - what is it?

The blame for this fur confusion is the rabbit-rex. "Bobrick" is a specially bred special breed of royal rabbit with dense short fur. It has a gentle and even nap perpendicular to the skin. Coloring, as a rule, combined - a dark back and white sides.

There is an erroneous version that rabbit-rex is a successful hybrid of chinchilla and rabbit. The first such animals appeared in 1919 in France. They were called "castor rex" (king of beavers) because of their unusual skin of red-brown color. The quality of this fur is similar to that of chinchillas, however, the fur and pile of the rex are somewhat larger in size and coarser. The production of "beaver" is mainly concentrated in Spain, however, China did not miss the opportunity to take its place in the international fur market. 95% of all finished goods sold under the guise of a sheared beaver on the Russian market are rabbit-rex coats made in China.

Features of fur

"Bobrik" is a fur with almost the same down and fleece hair. But at the same time it is half as short as that of ordinary rabbits. It's much thinner than the beaver, but a little thicker than the chinchilla. A beautiful warm fur coat or fur coats from the "beaver" are usually used for 4-5 seasons. Fur easily tolerates wet snow, perfectly cleaned, well retains heat even in severe frost. This coat protects against the piercing winter wind.

"Bobrick" - this is a good choice for those who can not afford an expensive mink or chinchilla, but dreams of a cute and wear-resistant fur coat.

How to distinguish between beaver and rabbit products

Recognize these furs is not difficult - you just have to carefully consider the finished product.

The beaver's fur coat is made of several fairly large rectangular plates measuring 30 by 50 or 40 by 60 centimeters. The rabbit skins are much smaller - from 20 to 35 centimeters. It is enough to turn the fur coat inside out, and you will see from which plates the product is assembled. Carrying the palm of the rabbit in different directions, you will not feel any difference. The fur will remain soft and silky.

With the beaver's fur, the situation is different. If you spend your palm on a fur, the skin will also seem very soft and smooth. In other directions, you will feel a slight resistance of the villi. There is a difference in mezdre. If you shave the "beaver" skin in your hands, you will feel how it crunches. The beaver always remains soft.

Fur coats from the "beaver" look very similar in appearance to the sheared mink, although it can be taken as a chinchilla by touch. By the ability to keep warm, this fur is not inferior to beaver. It is extremely light, which undoubtedly is its advantage. Recently in Russia, too, began to breed such an animal as "beaver". This allowed us to organize the production of clothes, so today such fur is already widely represented in our market.
