Federico Fellini: filmography, biography

Federico Fellini. Biography

Federico Fellini was born in 1920, January 20, in the Italian resort town of Rimini. In his childhood he was fond of drawing. He was very fond of the circus and arranged at home performances. Education future director received a classic, after studying for a reporter in Florence. In 1938 he moved to Rome, where he earned writing texts for advertising, variety shows, radio shows and drawings for magazines and newspapers.

Early Creativity

Fellini became acquainted with Roberto Rossellini when he traded in cartoons in a small shop. Roberto shared his plans for shooting a short film about a priest who was shot by fascists. Federico suggested deepening the idea and helped write a script for the movie "Rome, an open city." The tape had a tremendous success and laid the foundation for a new genre in cinema - neo-realism. Fellini has gained fame as a good screenwriter.

In 1950, the director participated in the creation of the film "Fires Variety." You can say that it was with this film as a director that Fellini began. His filmography starts with this picture, but he himself thought of it for a half, since it is a joint work. In 1952 he wrote a screenplay and shot the film "The White Sheik". In 1953 there were already 2 films - "Love in the City" and "Mama's Sons". The latter successfully went to the cinema. Federico Fellini received the Silver Lion for this work.

"Road"

From this moment, you can start to call the best films by Federico Fellini. Work on the script "Roads" was completed in 1949, but the director was able to start shooting only in 1953. His wife Juliette Mazina and actor Anthony Quinn played the leading roles.

This tape, which brought the director worldwide fame, Oscar for the best film in a foreign language and about 50 different awards, was given Federico very hard. After the shooting was completed, he was morally devastated. This work has brought not only recognition, but also a financial success for Fellini himself.

"Sweet life"

The film "Sweet Life" can be called a landmark in the work of the director. This picture should be taken as a kind of philosophical parable, which reveals the problems of modern Italian society. "Eight and a half", "Boccaccio-70"

In 1962, the master took part in the filming of the film, which was supposed to recreate the spirit of "Decameron". Four directors shot one film novel, which were combined into a single film - "Boccaccio-70".

The following year, there was enough autobiographical picture "Eight and a half", in which the master tried to show the viewer a confusion in the soul of the artist. The picture tells about the director Guido, who, because of lack of inspiration, can not make his film.
