Dialysis is a smart way to treat kidney disease

Kidneys are the main organ responsible for the filtration of blood in the human body. If you have problems with them, and waste and liquid accumulated in the body worsen your health, then dialysis may come to the rescue. This treatment, which partially fulfills the duties of a healthy kidney.

In order to understand whether there is a need to conduct dialysis of the kidneys, each patient takes blood to analyze the content of chemicals in it. The most important indicators are: urea nitrogen and - creatinine. The increase in these two norms is the first sign that the kidneys do not quite cope with their function by about 85-90 percent. But if a person has severe malaise, complaints about the heart, lungs and stomach, then treatment can be prescribed without taking into account the results of the analysis.

In medicine, there are several types of dialysis:

1) Hemodialysis - the circulatory system of a person through membranes and filters is connected with a special device that allows the entire blood of the patient to pass through.

2) Peritoneal dialysis - through the abdominal cavity (wall) with the aid of surgical intervention, a special solution is introduced, which is released after a couple of hours.

Usually, during hemodialysis 2-3 times a week should be given for 3-4 hours. During this time, the medical staff several times measures the pressure and adjusts the dialyzer so that blood is circulated in the body and the necessary amount of liquid is taken out.

When peritoneal dialysis is performed, the tissue of the human body is used as a filter. The intestine is located in the cavity of the belly, occupying the space between the abdominal wall and the spine. During the procedure, a catheter is inserted, with which a special intestinal wash solution is poured in, and the walls play the role of a filter between the liquid and the bloodstream. A variety of solutions help get rid of both excess fluid and waste. This procedure usually takes up to half an hour, but it must be done 4 to 5 times a day (and at night, also). The patient is taught the procedure, and he independently has his abdominal cavity with a medical solution, which after filtration is removed from the body. The advantage of this method is that there is no constant need to stay in the hospital.

If a person develops chronic renal failure, dialysis will help maintain the body's condition at a relative rate, before the kidney transplant.

For the next blood purification procedure, the patient should come to a medical center equipped with the necessary instruments of appropriate quality.
