The Day of the Chemical Troops of Russia was approved in 2006 on May 31 by the President's Decree. The officers of the chemical defense troops showed heroically in the conditions of radiation hazard in the territory of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, under the counter-terrorist operation in Chechnya. In 1992, chemical troops began to be called the RCBP (the troops of radiation, chemical and biological protection).
