Conscience is a person's moral guide

Conscience is the inner motivation of a person, which helps to exercise control over feelings, attitudes, actions. It is an internal need of a person to bear responsibility for one's own actions, actions. The voice of conscience can be heard at the onset of discomfort, when a person himself violates his moral rules.

What is the conscience for?

Conscience is a kind of compass that helps a person stay on the right track. It can also be compared to electric fencing for animals. They are installed in zoos so that animals do not try to get out of the barriers. Pets, having touched such a fence, receive a small discharge of current, and it becomes painful for them. The memory of this feeling does not allow them to commit this act again. The same happens with conscience. Having once done a bad deed, a person feels shame, and the memory of this does not give the same error. Thus, it can be said that conscience protects us from committing evil and regulates our behavior based on memory and life experience.

However, conscience (this can be easily traced, observing the lives of others) does not always perform its functions in full. For example, a person does not, at first glance, do anything wrong. He does not steal, does not kill, but at the same time he treats his children badly, does not care about his parents. He does not suffer from conscience, because, in his opinion, he does not commit terrible acts. In this case, serious help from outside is necessary. After all, people eventually come to understand their mistakes, but it may be too late. It is necessary to "reprogram" your conscience in advance.

How to use conscience

Conscience is a feeling that must work in the future, not in the past. Therefore, do not wait until it wakes up and strikes, you need to think in advance about the consequences of your actions. Then you do not have to reproach yourself and suffer memories of the past. To implement this is quite simple. It is necessary to observe some rules:

  1. Do not argue with your conscience. Their mistakes must be recognized with dignity and completely calm. You should never deny them. This can only lead to their repetition.
  2. Think out for yourself a plan for the future, in which you will describe in detail the algorithm of your actions, in order to prevent further mistakes in the future. The best way to be friends with your conscience is to make informed decisions and follow them. In case you deviate a little from the given direction, your conscience will help you to return to it.

Debt and conscience are some of the strongest motives. They helped people survive terrible wars, catastrophes, epidemics.

Does the conscience change?

Throughout life a person develops, and conscience changes with him. Even at the youngest age, we can give clear answers to the question: "Is it possible to kill, steal, deceive?" It is quite clear that this is immoral. In the modern world it is considered wrong and unacceptable to live, not benefiting, to live at someone else's expense. We are increasingly thinking about the decency, the meaning of life, independence, the effectiveness of its existence.
