Chronic disease: symptoms and treatment of ailment

The disease of chorea (second name - Huntington's disease) refers to severe diseases of the nervous system. Many factors can provoke the disease: poor blood circulation of the brain, intake of potent drugs, complications after encephalitis and tonsillitis, stress, atherosclerosis. But not only external factors can cause this ailment - a genetic predisposition is also the cause of the disease. It should be noted that this disease affects equally both men and women.

Symptoms of the disease

It should be noted that chorea disease does not manifest itself immediately, but the symptoms are difficult to confuse with another disease of the nervous system. As a rule, at the first stage of the disease a person experiences difficulty in movement, muscles do not seem to obey: it is difficult to stand, raise their hands. The patient is in a depressed state, becomes whiny and irritable. Then there is an involuntary contraction of the facial muscles: the man grimaces, smacks his lips. In moments of excitement, she starts to wave her hands slowly. Memory is deteriorating noticeably. In later stages, there is complete or partial dementia, a person begins to be haunted by paranoid thoughts and obsessions. There is a tendency to suicide.

Diagnosis and forms of the disease

Chorea's disease consists of several forms: rheumatic, non-rheumatic and senile. Rheumatic chorea most often affects children between the ages of three to six years, as well as pregnant women. The non-rheumatic form of chorea manifests itself in young people aged 25-30 years. Older people are more likely to become elderly after 60 years. Huntington's disease is diagnosed (photo is presented in the article) with the help of DNA analysis and positive emission tomography. Also, a doctor can prescribe a blood test to determine the number of white blood cells and detect streptococcal infection. A blood test will help to determine the right treatment.

Chorea's disease: treatment

Unfortunately, scientists have not yet managed to find a cure completely curing this insidious disease. The course of treatment is symptomatic and supportive. As a rule, sedative, neuroleptic drugs are prescribed. In severe forms of the disease, tranquilizers can be prescribed that relieve a depressed state and make a person more manageable. With rheumatic chorea, the patient should be registered at the dispensary.

Hereditary form of the disease

If one of the parents has chorea, then the chance for the child to inherit this disease is 50%. Therefore, it is not recommended for those suffering this disease to plan the birth of children. Also, in women who have had this illness during pregnancy, the chance to give birth to a healthy child is dramatically reduced, and therefore it is not necessary to plan a second pregnancy. Hereditary diseases of the nervous system, which include chorea, are very difficult to treat, but with strict adherence to the recommendations of the doctor, you can extend the life of the patient for many years. Be always healthy!
