Choose a name for the cat

Choosing a name for a cat, you do not just come up with a word, which will call the pet for the next ten years, but also create an image of the animal. After all, for outsiders, the cat's nickname characterizes it to some extent, forms the first impression of it.

The name for the cat should not be too long and difficult to pronounce. It is better to choose a word from two syllables - it can be easily repeated many times, for example, by searching for an animal. Names of thoroughbred cats are often polysyllabic and consist of several words. But in everyday life and representatives of the cat elite is better to call it shorter and simpler.

Choose a name for a cat usually forever: it takes quite a lot of time for a pet to even become addicted to a single nickname, and a periodic change of names will completely confuse the animal - after all, the cat will stop responding to nicknames, which will greatly complicate your communication.

In the name for a cat it is better to include sounds that are well audible to cats, these are "Z", "C", "F", "S" and "H". Words with these consonants are perceived by the pet better, addiction to such a nickname will happen more quickly. Speeding up the process will be even more facilitated by pronouncing the name each time when carrying out pleasant procedures for animals: feeding, stroking, playing, in a quiet, calm voice. Never call a cat with the nickname at the moment of irritation to punish him for tricks - this is the right way to refuse the animal to respond to your name.

Some owners want to call a cat somehow funny, to show others their own wit. The main thing at the same time is not to forget that a rare joke remains funny 10-15 years, that is, as much as this name will be used. Funny nicknames for cats, related to politics, advertising, sports or the life of stars, very quickly lose their relevance. And then the owner will get tired of answering the questions of others, where did this nickname come from, and how did he differ in honor of whom the cat was named.

And yet some unusual nicknames for cats really distinguish their owners among the owners of Murzikov and Barsikov: Baxter, Asteroid, Arizona.

It is advisable that the cat's name should match the exterior and the breed of the animal: the name Fuzzy will suit an animal with a thick, fluffy coat, the so-named hairless sphinx will look ridiculous. Simple nicknames, which many generations call their pets, are suitable for simple, often mongrel, pets. Pedigreed cats with a pedigree, which are supposed to exhibit, etc. It is better to call it a rare and memorable name. So, for Egyptian Mau names of pharaohs or heroes of mythology will approach, and to the representative of the American short-haired breed it is possible to think up the cowboy's nickname reflecting character of these active, playful animals.

Often the name is dictated by external circumstances. A white cat will be called Snezkom, found small - Baby, prone to tricks - Buyan. Color is also decisive: Red, Gray, Black - very common nicknames.

Owners who are inclined to humanize animals, give them human names. This is not the best idea, often relatives or acquaintances, coming to visit, and meeting there a cat - their namesake, take offense, or just feel uncomfortable. If you really want to name an animal in honor of someone, you can change the name a little so that it is not a copy of the human.
