Chinese way to grow onions on the ridges: a description of technology, the preparation of seeds

Today, we are fully justified by such a promising occupation as growing onions. As a business it is quite profitable and profitable. In general, to get a good harvest of vegetables, a gardener needs to know some features. And cultivation of onions as business and does require a special approach. It is necessary to choose the right variety for planting, to carry out all work on time, to know how to deal with pests.

But most importantly - to choose the right way to grow to get a good harvest. At observance of all agrotechnical norms even the beginner can collect on twenty five percent more than this improbably useful vegetable.

Chinese way of growing onions: description of technology

This is a rather interesting method. In our country, it has been practiced relatively recently. However, judging by the responses, Russian dacha owners liked the Chinese way of growing onions. Many have become accustomed to the idea that the bed before the planting should ideally be smoothed with rakes. But, it turns out, the Chinese are doing just the opposite. Vegetable growers of the Middle Kingdom plant bulbs on the crest of high beds. They make it a chopper.

Advantages of growing onions on the combs

They, it turns out, are many. First, bulbs in this case very quickly expand. This makes it possible to increase the yield by a quarter, and sometimes by forty percent. In addition, the Chinese way of growing onions is less laborious, because loosening, weeding and watering the bed is much easier and more convenient than with a normal planting. In addition, the upper part of the plant receives more sunlight, and this helps to strengthen immunity to various diseases.

Other advantages of this method include considerable saving of fertilizing, since the nutrients are practically not washed from the beds, and also the fact that harvesting is much easier.

Preparation of seed

It should be carefully sorted out, throwing all the dry, damaged and sluggish bulbs. After all, this depends on the harvest, which will please the new way. After this, it is necessary to warm up the sieve a little. For this, bulbs should be spread thinly on relatively thick paper and put them in the warmest place. In half a day, the planting material is ready to be placed in the ground. The warming protects the plant from rifling, pest effects, rot on the neck, powdery false dew, etc.

Before landing on the bed, be sure to cut the dry part of the neck of each bulb with sharp scissors, remove the dried husks and soak the seeds in warm water. A small amount of slurry can be added to the liquid. Thus, you can accelerate growth and affect the yield. Before planting, the liquid must be drained and the bulbs dried for a few minutes in the open air.

Timing

Few know that the time when it is best to plant this culture, can prompt the planting material itself, or rather its size. Bulbs with a diameter of up to ten millimeters are best used for winter. In early April, fit fifteen, and in the first half of May, twenty-millimeter saits. Large specimens (about 40 mm) are placed on the ridges solely for obtaining a feather.

The optimal time to plant onions in the open ground is the season when the average daily temperature does not fall below ten degrees of heat.

Place of disembarkation

Planting onion seedling on Chinese technology can take place in those areas where before a pumpkin or cabbage, lettuce, cucumbers or tomatoes, legumes, etc., have grown. It should be done in advance, preferably even in autumn, to prepare the soil. To do this, the soil must be digested, a mixture of manure, superphosphate, nitrophos, chalk or dolomite flour added to it.

Closer to the time of disembarkation, for example, in mid-April, the prepared area is best re-digged, and if necessary, and moistened. Then it must be divided into ridges, which have a height of about twenty centimeters in height and a distance of thirty centimeters between them. It is necessary to approximately calculate the number of ridges in order to be able to completely place the planting material on them in accordance with the required distance.

Landing

Today, many are already using Chinese methods of cultivation on their gardens. Luke on the ridges can collect much more. And what else does a gardener need besides a rich and healthy harvest? True, there is one "but": the turnips are somewhat flattened, but this does not affect the taste.

As already mentioned, the Chinese way of growing onions from the usual differs in the place of planting. That is, the planting material does not deepen into the even ground, but on the ridges of the beds - on the elevation, which are prepared in advance. They can be created with the help of a chopper. To do this, you need to scoop out the so-called spinneys - channels.

Cultivation of onions in Chinese way involves placing the planting material on the ridges with its penetration into the ground by two or three centimeters. The earth around each bulb should be slightly nailed with a chopper. Seals are not required. The soil around the seed should always remain loose, so as not to block the access of oxygen.

Care

The rules for growing onions planted in Chinese way are quite simple. They are much simpler than in the case of a normal landing. First of all, care is in proper watering. In the first month after the onion landing by the Chinese method, it should be carried out twice a month, subject to the presence of rains in the gaps. Water should be abundant. And if there is no precipitation, then the amount of moisture supply should be increased to three or four times, depending on the weather.

Approximately twenty days before harvesting should be completely stopped watering. In the process of care, care should be taken to ensure that there is no stagnation of water in the ridges. Otherwise, the risk of occurrence on the necks of decay greatly increases.

Top dressing

Cultivation of onions according to Chinese technology involves a three-time top dressing. The first should be conducted already two weeks after disembarkation. The feeding should consist of mullein or bird droppings diluted in water. The second time fertilizer is introduced in the middle of June under the root of the onion. For this, a solution of potassium salt, urea and phosphorus-containing top dressing is used. The third time you need to fertilize during the period when the onion heads begin to form.
