Children's emergency room: why do I need to and when should I go?

The children's trauma center is a medical institution whose main purpose is to diagnose and treat various traumas in people under 18 years old.

Why is it needed?

A children's emergency room can have both large enough sizes and be one single cabinet. It is necessary in order to quickly provide assistance in the occurrence of any trauma in children. Here the child can clean the wound, treat it with special antiseptic agents, and also bandage the damaged area. This is often quite sufficient.

Unfortunately, the damage sometimes requires more serious treatment. If the child's emergency room is located outside the medical institution, the child should be sent to a specialized hospital. There he will receive full medical help. If necessary, surgeons-traumatologists will carry out the necessary surgical interventions. Thanks to modern instruments and a unique regeneration of the child's organism, with a rational approach, there are no negative consequences for such babies.

At the same time, if a health worker in a child's trauma unit underestimates the danger of injury and does not send the child to the hospital for full-fledged treatment, then the baby may later have huge problems. The fact is that if the bones are damaged, their growth is disturbed. In some cases, fractures grow together independently, but very rarely such a connection is physiological. In all other cases, there is a significant decrease in the rate of growth of the damaged bone, or even an incorrect fusion of the fracture. All this requires a fairly complex and traumatic for the child's body of surgical interventions, as well as a long period of rehabilitation.

So the children's emergency room is assigned a truly important task for the timely detection, treatment and, if necessary, the transfer of small patients to specialized hospitals.

When should I contact?

Here you can ask for help in any injury to the child. In this case, it is worth remembering that a children's emergency room operates around the clock only if it is located directly in the structure of the hospital. So, if you have injuries at night, you should go there.

Naturally, with such injuries as an abrasion or bruise (if it's not about the head), the help will be provided on the spot. If the doctors reveal, for example, a fracture, they will send a small patient to a specialized hospital, where all the necessary measures will be taken. The main signs of fractures is the presence of limb mobility in those places where it should not be.

It should be remembered that often in schools there is also a trauma center. The children's polyclinic also has it. So that kids have all the possibilities to get first aid almost immediately after getting injured and going to a children's emergency room. In most cases this is quite sufficient, especially if the damage was not very serious.
