Causes of impotence

For a deeper understanding of the causes of impotence, at least superficial knowledge of the processes occurring in the penis during erection is necessary. When excited, the arteries carrying blood to the spongy and cavernous bodies expand. At this time, the veins responsible for the outflow of blood, sharply narrow. Blood in the gaps accumulates in the gaps, which causes an erection. The necessary blood supply to the organ tissue, while in ischemia, is not received at this time. Therefore, too long sexual intercourse and constant "inhibition" (containment) are already the first step towards impotence.

What is impotence ? This is a sexual impotence arising at various, sometimes even not interconnected, factors: endocrine, medicamentous, vascular, local and, of course, neurological. All these are organic forms of impotence, caused by disturbances or changes in the functioning of the body.

Usually, erectile dysfunction lies in the neuropsychiatric features of the man himself. Often a psychoemotional component joins a problem caused by organic causes, which comes to the fore after the root cause has been eliminated.

Endocrine causes of impotence

This, above all, hypogonadism (dysfunction) of the sexual glands and a violation of the production of testosterone. This increases the tone of the voice, stops (partially or completely) the growth of hair, fat is deposited on the chest, buttocks, hips. These changes are typical for serious violations of the hormonal system and require the intervention of the endocrinologist.

Another cause of the problem with erection may be a pituitary tumor located directly in the brain. A tumor secreting prolactin will cause persistent impotence, the above manifestations will not be. For diagnosis, tomography and a thorough examination of the hormonal status will be required.

Drug causes of impotence

Some drugs can affect the erectile function of the male body. For example, hormonal drugs block the action of male hormones (antiandrogens), and the adoption of female sex hormones disrupts the entire hormonal mechanism. These drugs are prescribed only in exceptional cases, with cancer.

Another type of drugs that cause the development of impotence, inhibits (inhibits) the work of the brain, sometimes even blocking the sensitivity of nerve endings. These are soothing, hypnotic (antihistamines) and narcotic drugs. Alcohol belongs to this group of substances. Long-term use of these drugs not only reduces the erection, but also negatively affects the reproductive system as a whole.

Local causes of impotence

Here there are factors differing in origin, but all leading to sclerosis (inflammation) of cavernous bodies, the elastic thin tissue of which will begin to be replaced by a solid connective, limiting or completely eliminating erection. Lead to this injection in the genitals, priapism, trauma of the penis, constant tightening of sexual acts (delaying ejaculation) for two, three or more hours. With the proven fact of sclerosis, you will have to resort to phalloprosthetics.

Vascular causes

Occur with endarteritis, atherosclerosis and (or) aneurysm of the aorta, varicosity (dilated veins), after pelvic injuries, incl. Perineum. With a normal erection, the arterial blood flows to the penis, and the outflow for this time is blocked. Here the arterial inflow is insufficient, and the outflow is too fast. The erection comes a long time, quickly passes, not allowing at times even to begin the sexual certificate or makes it extremely inconvenient.

The psychological causes of impotence are due, first of all, to the peculiarity of the psyche. All the organic disorders of erectile functions are layered and psychological components.

Erection may be substandard or disappear at all with depression (especially prolonged), with fatigue or feeling unwell, with the dissatisfaction of the partner or with oneself, if the partner's sexual preferences are not in line with the fear of contracting sexually transmitted diseases, etc. Erections may not occur as a result of past Fiasco: unsuccessful sexual acts, refusal or incorrect behavior of the partner, fear of intimacy (it's about the syndrome of the first meeting). The lability of the psyche may also be affected: once a failed failure can cause stress before a new intimacy, which will lead to yet another failure. And the accumulation of such failures will lead to feelings of complete inferiority and to complete impotence. However, with this form of morning erection and erection during masturbation persist.

Psychological impotence can be selective - the impossibility of affinity with one partner, but constant success with others (or vice versa).

The causes of impotence are eliminated sometimes after several sessions of psychotherapy, but sometimes you have to resort to radical measures: vacuum-erection therapy, drug treatment, surgery.
