Cataract. Symptoms of pathology

A very insidious disease is cataract. Symptoms, as a rule, are not expressed, the course of the disease is slow. Very often a person does not know that he has this ailment. As a result, the doctor is drawn too late. Although the signs of cataracts are not pronounced, they can be recognized. It is only necessary to know their specificity.

Often a thickening of the lens suggests that cataracts begin. Symptoms in this case are manifested in the form of exacerbation of near vision and, as a result, the development of myopia. This is due to the fact that the lens, thickening, becomes somewhat convex, which provokes a sharper refraction of light rays.

As a rule, this state is mainly affected by elderly people with senile farsightedness. Unexpectedly, they note that they are able to read without wearing glasses. However, most often after a short period of time, the improvements begin to disappear.

If a person sees better in the twilight than in the daytime, and when looking at a lighted bulb or a bright car headlight sees a halo around the object, then it can also indicate that cataracts are developing. These symptoms are manifested in the case of clouding only the central part of the lens, which is located directly behind the pupil.

A bright light provokes a narrowing of the pupil. The rays that pass through it, fall on the dimmed central part, which is some barrier to them to the retina. At the same time, the light is dissipated. Thus, an aureole is created. In many cases, this condition provokes the appearance of photophobia. Low light helps to dilate the pupil. In this case, through the transparent part, the light rays freely penetrate the retina.

To note whether or not the development of the pathology is possible depending on the location and size of the area of turbidity in the lens. If this area is on the periphery, then the symptoms of cataracts do not appear long, and a person may not suspect of the disease. However, the closer the damage to the center of the lens, the faster the visual disturbances appear. A person begins to see things vaguely, their contours are blurred, in some cases, doubling in the eyes develops. These negative manifestations tend to increase. This, in turn, causes a person to change lenses more frequently in glasses to stronger ones. A normally black pupil may have a yellowish tinge. In some cases, it does whiten.

To testify that cataracts develop , symptoms can also manifest themselves in the following:

- when sewing or reading, the need for bright illumination increases;

- a person often wipes glasses in glasses, since he always seems to be fogging and therefore becomes cloudy;

- there is a feeling of the presence of a film, which you want to erase all the time;

- when reading begins to merge letters or entire lines.

If any signs are found, it is necessary to consult an ophthalmologist. The specialist on the basis of examination and complaints of the patient establishes an accurate diagnosis, determines the shape, type, area and size of opacity in the lens.

It is better to remove cataract in its mature stage. In this case, all the fibers of the lens became turbid and easily separated from its capsule. In this case, the indications for a surgical intervention are not the degree of turbidity maturity, but the state of eyesight. In the case of slow maturation of cataracts against the background of a severely fallen vision, the operation is still appointed. As a rule, in such a state a person experiences considerable difficulties, and it can be helped only by surgical intervention.

It is worth noting that, despite the complexity of the operation, it is the most effective way to eliminate pathology.
