Begonia is a tropical or subtropical plant originating from the Asian, American and African regions. In the Begoniev family there are up to a thousand varieties. This plant is beautiful flowers, colors and leaves, so begonia, home care for which is not too complicated, is well-deserved popularity among many amateur growers.

Begonia is divided into three groups - tuberous begonia, leaf begonia and begonia bush.

Begonia. Care and Growth

Begonia is quite resistant to disease, but in order for it to develop properly and have a beautiful appearance, it must be provided with appropriate care.

Moderation is precisely that requirement, which puts forward for our lives begonia. Care at home is necessary for her at the following temperature regime: if it is summer, then twenty degrees it will be quite enough, and in winter the temperature should be no less than fifteen degrees Celsius. In this case, the room should be illuminated by bright scattered light, but do not allow direct sunlight to reach begonia.

On the question of how to properly care for begonias, you can safely answer that the first thing to do is to observe the appropriate humidity. To do this, you need to use a pot of wet peat or a tray of water, where you should put the pot, but do not put the pot directly on the water. To do this, you need to put pebbles on the tray (fine crushed stone will do as well), and already put a pot of begonia on it, or install it on an inverted saucer. Periodically, it is necessary to humidify the air in the place where begonia grows. Care at home requires from time to time spray the room with water, but so that the water drops do not fall on its flowers and leaves.

If you have asked yourself what kinds of begonia you can grow in your apartment, you can calm yourself down more quickly. The answer is that all kinds of begonia can grow in room conditions.

Begonia should grow in fertile soil, in addition, it is necessary to ensure complete absence of drafts. It must be remembered that watering begonia is necessary regularly. In summer and spring it can be watered with water, in which the solution of mineral fertilizers is diluted. The proportion of fertilizers should be this: one gram of mineral fertilizers is diluted in a half-liter jar of water, but beforehand it is necessary to give water a day to stay away from chlorine. This should not be done very often, twice a month will be enough.

If the begonia is grown in a small pot, it will grow slowly. But it is worth to transplant it into a larger capacity, as it will give enough side shoots. It is often possible to observe a picture in which shoots interfere with each other and their twisting will be the response. At the same time, the appearance of the plant deteriorates, and furthermore the darkening of weak root sprouts occurs. In order to avoid this, at the end of autumn or after the arrival of spring, you should get rid of the old root ramifications, just cutting them off.

The planting of begonias should be made in the middle of May on a glassed balcony or loggia. If you are the owner of a good seedling, then by mid-May it will already pick buds and blossom. But in case you have seedlings that were obtained from seeds, it is necessary to hold it for a while in a bright place (for example, it can be a window sill). But do not forget that the direct sun rays of begonia are strictly contraindicated.

Planting a root sapling, its neck should be placed in the soil for one-and-a half centimeters. If you plant a tuberous begonia, it must be deepened for two to two and a half centimeters for stability.

At the end of the planting procedure, you should provide the plant with a shadow for two to three days if the begonia, home care for which you carry out, is in a bright place.
