Bedclothes, jacquard: reviews. Jacquard linen: the pros and cons

More recently, in our country, bed linen was made only from satin and calico, rarely in the stores came bright imported sets of other materials. Today, everyone can choose sleeping accessories from a variety of fabrics and the most unusual colors. In recent years, there appeared on the market considered elite bedding. Jacquard, satin, silk, plain or with a pattern, decorated with embroidery or sewing, will create a relaxing and harmonious atmosphere in any bedroom.

Jacquard fabric, what is it?

First of all, it is necessary to note the beauty and sophistication of this fabric, created as a result of a dense weave of threads. The result is a strong and embossed material with a beautiful pattern. For the manufacture of jacquard, yarns obtained from various materials can be used: cotton, satin, artificial fibers. From this material make towels and tablecloths, curtains and bed linens. Jacquard, despite its density, is a very light and "breathable" material. In the composition of this fabric, as a rule, there are cotton fibers that help absorb excess moisture, which is favorable for the sleeper both on hot summer days and throughout our long winter when heating appliances work.

Who invented the jacquard and when?

It happened in 1801, when the French weaver and inventor Joseph-Marie Jacquard was able to invent and create an original loom that made it possible to produce a particularly dense fabric, with the base of a rapport consisting of no less than 24 threads, with a beautiful convex pattern reminiscent of tapestry cloths . In the 19th century, carpets, tapestries, curtains were made of jacquard cloth, and they wore furniture, sewed ladies' toilets. In addition, there was a special branch of weaving Jacquard, the masters of which could create portraits of noble and influential people of that time.

Since then, the design of the weaving loom for the manufacture of the jacquard has remained virtually unchanged, and the material obtained as a result of interlacing a large number of threads has a number of unique characteristics.

How does it happen?

Previously, only natural materials were used for the manufacture of jacquard, then today artificially created materials are also used.

Modern jacquard cloths are in composition:

  • Natural, produced only from natural fibers of one type, for example cotton;
  • Mixed, when some non-woven fibers are added to the cotton fibers;
  • Artificial, obtained as a result of a braid of threads made of polymeric substances, for example polypropylene or polyester.

In addition, the jacquard can be colored in three ways:

  • Preliminary staining of fibers;
  • Painting the finished fabric when the yarns have a different level of absorption of the coloring matter;
  • Thermal printing on the finished fabric.

Features of Jacquard bedding

Only woven from natural yarn materials are used to make bed linens. Jacquard is made of silk, satin or mixed fibers. To obtain unusual design effects, and also to reduce the cost of products, to expensive silk or satin yarns add bamboo fibers or cotton. The texture of mixed and natural silk fabrics are different, but each of them is beautiful and original in its own way.

For those who prefer a combination of comfort and beauty, special, bilateral bed linens are created. Satin, jacquard are connected together: the outer side is decorated with exquisite patterns, and the inner is pleasant for the body.

The cheapest are kits made of materials woven with synthetic fibers. It is important to remember that the synthetics content should not be above 40%.

Also on the shelves is presented bed linen, the jacquard of which consists of soft cotton fibers, and the pattern is made of noble silk or satin that looks advantageously on a smooth background.

To attract buyers, manufacturers decorate sets of bed linen with lace or trim, apply drawings with the effect of 3D.

Advantages and disadvantages of jacquard cloth

As already mentioned, this material is produced by interlacing a multitude of threads, which gives the fabric a high strength and density. It is important to note that jacquard is a special way of weaving threads, rather than fabric composition. In addition to beauty and unique design, there are a number of properties that justify the relatively high prices for such bed linen. Euro jacquard has such useful qualities:

  1. Beautiful and exquisite appearance and texture, pleasant to the touch.
  2. Controlling the temperature of the human body and absorbing excess moisture.
  3. Durability, achieved by tight weaving and twisting of threads.
  4. Strength, since the density of the fabric is about 250 g / m 2 .
  5. Wear resistance, as the threads do not break under mechanical influences.
  6. Heat resistance - this material is resistant to temperature changes.
  7. Easy and simple operation and maintenance.

These are only the main advantages of jacquard linen, but it has one, but very significant minus - a high price. But it should be noted that lately more cheap Jacquard bed linen appeared on the shelves of stores. Turkey and China supply budget kits made of fabrics with a large share of synthetics. Buying cheap analogs of elite and expensive linen, it is worth remembering that they do not have all the listed advantages. In order not to spend money on a poor-quality product, and nerves - on the experience of this, to buy better-tested brands in branded stores. So how do you make the right choice and buy a quality satin jacquard (bed linen)? Feedback from consumers already using such kits will help you choose the most suitable option for you and your family.

Customer Reviews

After analyzing the many reviews, it should be said that most consumers who purchased satin jacquard bedding were satisfied with their purchases. Despite the rather high price, the quality of the purchased sets suits them. In addition, according to reviews, for such clothes is quite easy to look after. As users of the Internet write, it is easy to erase, preserving the texture and colors, smooth without any problems.

But aside from obviously enthusiastic and simply positive reviews about bed linens from jacquard, there are also negative ones. As a rule, problems with the size, color stability during washing and others arise from those who bought budget Chinese-made sets made of materials with a high proportion of synthetic fibers.
